Correct Al. Winfield Scott was the last Whig candidate for the presidency. He lost to Franklin Pierce in 1852. Two other 1812 vets DID become president as Whigs: William Harrison and Zachary Taylor. Both died in office. Steve Davenport Lieut, 36th US Inf |
