http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 91780&rd=1 Speaking of auctions, I shared this one with Phil and had to post it on the board. If you have watched many Ebay auctions you will find that some items seem to hold a place in the market for some reason. One such item is SPI's Empires of the Middle Ages. I have participated in 10 auctions where the game went well over 100 dollars (including Phil's copy which went for about 125.00). The auction today took the cake. What sold for 18 dollars when new went for 200 dollars and it had missing pieces! You gotta love this folks! I now see my only hope of getting a copy of this game is via a yard sale .... |

Bartholemew leave the tent, you do not want to read this thread. I know you Yank fellows eat dog out of necessity, but really! He's much too sinewy and tough for you...why you'd break what few decayed teeth you have left in your heads! [:0] http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V ... 0&since=-1 I just posted the most valuable game I have, a little gem titled "Bartholemew Takes Yorktown". The box is even autographed with a little paw print. Reserve price of $500, with 2 dog biscuits in postage. bid early, bid often. [:)] |

Phil - wow the bidding on SPQR just went through the roof! Was hoping to land it in the 80 dollar range. Enjoy your bed and breakfast inn fees! No, I am not going to bump it any more. They can have it at 107 and change! |

Congrats to Gary McClellan (but not for Phil - see more) - he won an auction from Phil and got a killer price for a game on the Marlborough era. The game sells for 44 bucks retail but Phil had to watch it go to Gary for 14 bucks. Good for you Gary. Remember - bid early - bid often! Well something like that! Phil - I presume that some of your other auctions will seriously make up for the loss on that one - like mine! Honestly, I was interested in this game and couldnt watch it end but wouldnt have outbid Gary for it seeing he loves the era just a TAD bit more than me! Looks like a good game Gary. Enjoy! And now for something really interesting: ASL with a ton of game-ettes and multiple copies of some of the modules went for over 300 bucks today. Also - I finally got a copy of Empires of the Middle Ages. If you own the game and are interested in a PBEM game please let me know. I would like to see how we could set up a MP game like was done for Diplomacy by Paco. We had a great time of it. |

Yep, Gary snagged a good one there at a good price. Overall I've had really great success with my auctions with only 3 out of around 150 games not selling on the first go around. Enough success to consider about a 3/4 down payment on a new horse, I mean car, or a long awaited battlefield tour of Europe...no kidding, it's something I'm seriously considering. To offset Gary's excellent bargain, I had one early auction for a game that I didn't expect to get $5.00 for, but it went for well over a hundred, go figure. I still have tons of Napoleonics and old SPI flat tray stuff going on the block soon, and haven't even opened 4 big boxes of magazine games yet, but I can now see TWO windows in this room at least. [8D] Bid early, bid often. [:)] http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V ... ce=-1&rd=1 |
