February 20, 1755 - English General Edward Braddock, accompanied by two regiments of English troops, arrived in Virginia to assume the post of commander-in-chief of all the English forces in the American colonies. He arranges a conference of the royal governors of Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, and Virginia in Alexandria, Virginia. The agenda is to develop a strategy for attacks on French positions at Crown Point, Dusquene, Niagra and Nova Scotia. I am sure Braddock will do an excellent job against the French and their Indian Allies.[;)] Col Cox NJM |

""I am sure Braddock will do an excellent job against the French and their Indian Allies.[;)]"" Only if Mel Gibson plays him in the Hollywood movie. Then he'll take Quebec singlehandedly in 1754 yelling "FREEDOM!" ::Hates that piece of crap "The Patriot" with a fiery passion (even if the French guy was kidn of cool [;)]:: Ensigne Philipe Chevalier de Roubaud Regimente Gatenois L'Expedition Particuliere |

In Braddock, Pennsylvania (a suburb of Pittsburgh), there is a large bronze statue of him with the British flag flying over head. I believe it is near the spot where he died. |
