At this time let us all reflect on our servicewomen and men overseas, preparing to go into combat. Pray for their safety and their rapid return home. How many of our club members are or have been in Military service? I'm just curious because serving in the Armed Forces creates a bond among us, even if we've never met. I am proud to state that I served eight years in the USN and left as EM1/SS John Hipkins (first class Petty Officer, E-6 paygrade, submarine sailor). I served in USS Grayling SSN-646 during the end of the Cold War. I invite any other club members to share their armed forces experience. God be with our children as they go to war. God bless America and her Allies. |

Well that explains why Jack is wearing skirts, those sub boys get a little squirrely. [:p] Just kidding!! I was a week end warrior for 6 years from 79-85. Came out as a Sgt E-5. Served mostly as an infantry scout squad leader "Jeep-borne"! [:D]hehehe... Saw no action other than a A-10 screaming down on us during a bomb run, after my Plt Ldr inadvertantly instructed me to drive our jeep (just him and me) across a live fire range. Scared the stuffing out of me, as we crested the hill to look DOWN and see this plane coming at us!!! We 'flew' down the hill off of the bomb range into the trees just as explosions erupted from behind. --- May God protect all who are going into harm's way. |

I have been in service for over 19 years now as an 11B/Grunt/ Infantryman for those that do not get 11B/Grunt [;)] I was over in the first Gulf conflict in 91, but 19 years have taken thier toll and now I am an old broken grunt and have been left behind here at FT. Campbell to take care of the rear [V] I have many friends and fellow soldiers deployed and my prayers are with them and their loved ones, this extends to all in harms way or who have been called up to fill in back in the rear. I Salute all past servicemen, they know what is at stake, and to all those that may have not served, but still supported our troops. GOD Bless America and her Allies. I pray that this will be short, and as bloodless as possible and that our men and women come home soon. Then it will be time for me to retire [;)] |

Al, I can categorically state: I never did anything to a man that I wouldn't do to a woman. |

USAF, 21 years going on 22. Currently in a wing staff job so not deployed though 1 squadron is gone of the 2 here. I am a 2W171 Weapons troop by trade, means I used to load bombs/missiles on planes. ![]() Al, I used to load A-10s from 84-87. Good thing it wasn't a gun run or you would't be here to post. A-10 bombs are iffy, the guns are deadly. |

Good work Flick (would you mind putting a regular name in your sig, so I know what to call you)... you took 10 years off of Al's life, after the fact [:D] (btw, never served myself, but am very much an "Air Force Brat") |

Well, I spent 20 years in the USMC, from 1960 to 1980 and retired as a MSGT. Hopefully, the reports of Iraqi troops wanting to surrender are true. |

Just a little service here...4 years in the USN, got out as an GES2 - Gas Turbine Systems Second Class. So even if I was there I'd be down in the hole! Hope this is a short event, so our people can come home. |

I just got out of the USMC in August. I was an 0311/Infantry which is the only way to go. I to was over there the first time in 91. With all of the recent events of late, it's making me consider going back in. |

Spent 4 years('84 - '88) in the USAF working on FB-111 flight simulators. Trained several crews who eventually flew the Libya run (Damn French!). Got out as a SSgt. The amazing thing is, we were such a specialized group in simulation that most of the men I trained and worked with in the Air Force are currently working with me at Delta Air Lines. A very small world. I can't tell you all how close we are,..... but I am sure you all know! May God protect and guide our troops! |
