Thanks Bill. Unfortunately there's some inaccurate info in there, most noteably the number of scenarios...183, not 264 like Jim wrote. But over all a good write up. [8D] |

Best summed up in the final paragraph: <font color="yellow"><i>"Given The French and Indian War's authenticity, flexibility, breadth and simplicity of scenarios, any gamer interested in the musket and saber will keep this game on his hard drive not just for the editing options but because its just plain enjoyable. Playing is a delight."</i> <div align="right">-Jim Cobb, the Wargamer</div id="right"></font id="yellow"> But then we knew that already... Good work guys! Col. Cox American Forces |

Actually the most off putting thing in the review was when Cobb said something along the line (dont have it open) that the company units weren't really companies, because they were too small. All that does is show his lack of understanding for the period. that being said, I do happen to agree with the final statement [:D] |

He qualified his statement with "less than 50 men", which is reasonably accurate. "The basic units of The French and Indian War are infantry companies, artillery batteries and commanders. Companies are companies in name only in that they usually have less than fifty men. Batteries have only one small gun." (Jim Cobb) |

(note on Rich's comments on number of scenarios) hehe! Just give Al "Famous" Amos a few months and you WILL have some 264 to offer!! I just got his latest pack for 1776 and it is some map! If you dont have the pack get it from Al or see if its on Rich's website. I am looking forward to their next title: "A Savage Empire" its all about Native Americans attempting to own as much of North America as possible before the WHITE MAN arrives (ok - Coronado doesnt count). And yes, your side in the club can play either side for full points! The side to own Plymouth AND Jamestown sites gets a free copy of their next game after that: "The Accursed Triange" - its a game about trying to stop the dreaded Slave Trade of the 1800s. Using John's naval engine (with enhancements for small ship actions) you can pilot a coastal cutter, corvette or stingray (car pun) and attempt to catch as many slave ships as possible before they reach their destination. A follow on module for this game will be developed under the title of "The Accursed Carpetbagger" - its about trying to get rid of unwanted Yankees in the South! A real screamer and plenty of scenarios as well! Ok - just funning on that. I have no idea what they are working on. Probably something like 40 winks! 40 x [;)] |
