Well done Sir Phil I have just played Yorktown and lost my army having inflicted about 3100 losses on the enemy for about the same on my side I reckoned That was about as good as I could do. Please let us know how you did it sir. Or maybe lend out that hound. |

Thank you Captain Boggon, it wasn't easy and luck played a part. I didn't waste much time slowing the enemy advance on the city, but rather ran for cover as soon as I could. Those elevated rampart hexes mean extra firepower coming out, and less going in, which is always a good thing. I maintained a lot of crossfiring angles with my artillery from the rampart areas the jutted out, also kept all the Hessians under tight control by the Army leader, did a lot of shifting behind the walls, and kept those huge French units off balance by heavy fire while they trudged through the swamps. My opponent made several breaches but I was I able push him back out and plug the gaps with reserves...if you can call highly fatigued and shot up units reserves. [xx(] Note too that this was Barry Maunsell's custom Yorktown scenario which is slightly more forgiving for the Brits than the in-game scenario. It was a very hard fought battle and a continual balancing act as I constantly rushed troops to weakened or threatened sectors. Do I smell BBQ? [:p][8D] Phil |
