I'm not a big fan of resource gathering type games but this one looks interesting with the 7 Years War and ARW depicted. Anyone played this and have any feedback on it? Phil |

I'm sort of intrigued by the Spanish/Inca/Aztec/Maya angle. http://www.americanconquest.com/ |

A Cossacks sequel? I found Cossacks not bad ... a bit confusing in the long run. Think I am more of a turn-based gamer. [:I] |

Sort of a sequel, but a much streamlined and cleaned up sequel according to some reviews. I too found Cossacks to be a bit much. A pause key with this game takes some of the real time sting out. |

Maybe eBay is the answer, as it takes some of the sting of paying full price for the game. |

Might enjoy these types of games more if my 21 year old son didn't " show me how it is done [:(!]" Well maybe not. Well if I was 21 again I might [8D]. On on second thoughts No, to silly [:o)]I prefer The orcs and dwarfs and things for that sort of game. |

I am a newbie to the turn based game but a veteran to the RTS (real time stategy) games. I own & play American Conquest. I enjoy the game very much. If you don't play RTS games game often, this game is abit overwhelming. Unlike cossaacks, where you can build walls to protect your town & resources, in this game you can not. & have a strong index finger. You have to build alot of troops to protect your town. You'll find yourself left clicking on the town center 150 to 200 turn to create townsfolk, then you put them in the barrack to create the troops you'll need. To create those troops will take another 150 to 200 left clicks. This cycle repeats itself & never ends. & all the while, your oppenent is sending 300 musketeers, 500 pikemen, 100 calavry reinforced with 5 or 6 cannons. While all this is going on, you still have to gather resources & research technologies. The trick is speed & to attack first. If your new to RTS games, this is not the one to start out with. Can be very frustrating.[xx(] |

What these RTS games/Age of Empires clones need is a Strategy key. You are given several Strategies to use such as "Build up your military base" or "Build up your civilian housing base" and meanwhile any villagers you create would be put to work on the new sites AUTOMATICALLY with no assignment by the big ugly human (Ernie) needed. I liked Age of Empires but found Cossacks a bit daunting after the former's simplicity. I also have Medeival:Total War and enjoy that alot. Not as much clicking for the strategy part which is how the AoE type games should have been. Battles belong on the battlefield and not on the strategy map. Saw the American Conquest game this weekend in a store but passed on buying it. If I cant handle Cossacks I would hate to see how I handle the Incans! |
