Is it not possible to encrypt campaign files? Even with PBEM encryption selected, the campaign files send unencrypted. Advise? |

Its not possible. Same goes for the Napoleonic games by HPS/Tiller. I discussed this over three years ago with John Tiller and he cannot get the Campaign engine to read the encrypted files from the prior battles. Thus no losses would carry over and more than that it crashes. We gave up on this long ago. He set it such that even if PBEM Encryption is set in your game that the file would be in plaintext. It takes discipline to not open the wrong file. I always tell folks to put a B (British), C (Colonial), F (French) at the end of the name of the ZIP file to denote who sent the file so that each player knows what they have when they save it to their drive and open it up. Of course the wrong file can still be put in there but it helps. |

When the game asks you whether you want to see the replay, doublecheck the replay for which side it offers, and if it's your own side, select "cancel" and you won't see anything you shouldn't see. |

Does that mean that in 1776, damage done to your units will carry over into the next battles? Or was this feature not included in 1776? |

Yes, they carry over. In fact I think 1776 was the first game to incorporate the campaign mode and thus this feature. |

Note: the major campaign file for the 1776 game doesnt carry over losses. They are all distinct games within themselves. Some of the other campaign files used this feature but the war-campaign file didnt. So as you moved from the North to the South to the Middle or wherever the army you fought with was what they had at the historical timeline. The obvious reason was the timespan between battles. In order to do this you use an ORG file. Al and Rich have written up alot on this so I wont go over ancient ground. |
