I would like to offer a solution that doesn't involve much copying and is fairly straight forward. 1. Set up 2 folders in your EMAIL program. 2. Name one READY GAMES and the other DONE GAMES. Setting these up are easy in most email programs. 3. Set up a new folder on your "C" drive (or whatever drive) and call it !!!RECEIVED_GAMEFILES and another called !!!SENDING_GAMEFILES. (The !!! keeps them at the "top" of your "C" drive list.) 4. When you get a new email and turn from an opponent, SAVE the attached file into your RECEIVED_GAMEFILES folder, then MOVE the email to the READY GAMES email folder. 5. Go to your RECEIVED_GAMEFILES folder and UNZIP the file into the proper game. You should be able to just "drag 'n drop" the file. 6. Delete the ZIP file. 7. When you play the game turn, go to the GAME folder and ZIP the file and copy it into the !!!SENDING_GAMEFILES folder. (Once you send the file, delete it from this folder) 8. Open your email program and go to READY GAMES folder, select the email from your opponent and REPLY to it. Make any comments and ATTACH your ZIP file from the !!!SENDING_GAMEFILES folder. Send the email. 9. Move the opponents email into the DONE GAMES folder. In this manner you always have emails of NOT YET PLAYED turns in one place, READY GAMES. When played the email is in the DONE GAMES folder, with the attachment. IF your opponent didn't get the file or needs it send again, you still have the ZIP file (and the BTE file) in your game folder and you can resend it. |

Hm, what I do is just 1) unzip new turn from opponent's e-mail into game folder; 2) play turn; 3) zip new turn within game folder; 4) attach zip to reply mail. As the zip is never overwritten with my opponent's turn I can always resend it as well. [:)] |

Ernie, I go one step further by renaming each turn so as to have backup. I keep for 3 turns. For those playing me they will recognize (3 BR T) or (4 Am OF) and the end of their files. I do this free of charge (hehehe) and player on the other end never do anything as they will continuosly get new names. I think only I have only frustrated Al! [:D] Because I use folders like you have suggested, it is easy to clean up when more than 3 turns fill the folder.[^] Cheers, |

My method is to set up a folder for all of my EAW games, Nap games, etc. Then in each folder I have a shortcut to each game folder and the game executable. I also have all zip files that are to be done in this folder. I have a Moves Done and Moves Sent subfolder in this folder. In this case the folder is called CCC. The shortcuts to the executables are called: G_FIW G_1776 G_1812 where G stands for Game. The folders have a F in front of them for Folder. The reason is that all of the folders line up alphabetically this way. The game executables are also in order. Optionally you could group them by game if you like. You could have: 1812_G and 1812_F for example. When files come in for me to work I save them to the CCC folder. Then after I do the file it goes into the Moves Done folder. I then zip the game file (via using the shortcut to the game folder) and move it to the CCC folder. I usually try and do all files from one club at a time but this is not always possible. After the file has been sent it goes to the Moves Sent folder. Thus I always have the last two files for my games on hand in case they dont open at the other end or I cant open a file and my opponent needs the file I sent him last to redo the file correctly. Hey, its all in how you want to do it but I gave up long ago having just a 2DO folder and a 2Send folder. Like alot of other folks I am in several clubs and this method helps me to keep them all straight. |
