The museum where I work acquired an English "puzzle jug" (1740-1750) inscribed with the following challenge:
<i>Here Gentlemen Come try yr' skill
I’le hold a wager if you will,
That you Don’t Drink this liqr all
Without you spill or let some fall</i>
A shiny new shilling to the man who solves the riddle of how to drink from a vessel whose neck is perforated all the way around as in the flower patterns on this one. There are three spouts on the rim.
