We have all come to take it more or less for granted how the games-and-points administration of the CCC is run smoothly and behind the scenes by our reliable Secretary of War, Garry Cope. However, after many years of sterling work on the job, Garry has now announced his intention to retire in the not too distant future. The club cabinet, and I think we speak for all the members of the CCC here, are deeply grateful for his efforts and wish him a long and rewarding period of enjoyable gaming in the club. [^] So that the CCC can continue to operate as smoothly as before, your help is now needed. We are looking for a volunteer to take over the position of Secretary of War. The person should have some basic skills in MS Excel; some MS Access would be a plus. Those of you who have already, in some administrative capacity, received copies of the club archives, know that the system is not really difficult to handle; it's definitely not rocket science. Basically it's a cut-n-paste job with some typing thrown in. With respect to the workload, as many members are in the habit of doing several new game / end game reports in a row rather than when a game actually starts or ends, there are times of peak traffic and other very quiet times, but on average expect one or two game report forms per day. We are definitely not expecting forms to be processed within 24 hours, but on the other hand it shouldn't need in excess of a week either; somewhere in between, i.e. several days, is OK. For instance, once a week, like say every Saturday, would work. The job is a cabinet position, so participating in the deliberations of the club cabinet is mandatory. This is not in any way time consuming; we don't debate a lot. The job is also handsomely rewarded with a certain amount of monthly points, I believe 20. Candidate should be able to commit for at least a year on the job, barring unforeseen events of course. Applications should please be sent to me directly. I am sure I don't have to make explicit how crucial a replacement for Garry is for the continuation of the CCC as we know it. The club may be able to function in some way without a president, without commanders-in-chief and without a training programme, but it definitely cannot work for even a brief period without someone doing the game administration. <font size="5">THE CCC NEEDS YOU NOW. </font id="size5"> Please spread the word.
