Post subject:  Missing Leaders

This a question that applies to all the games, but I think it occurs more frequently in the Colonial titles, hence the reason for posting here.

It has to do with what happens when leaders are missing from the OOB. For example the regimental leader is missing (or not present on the field).

I had previously thought that in such a situation, an officer higher in the chain of command and within the normal regimaental leader span of control would provide the regimental leadership, but in at least one example that is not the case. The higher level leader "only" provides the regimental command function if it is co-located with the unit.

The implications of this are rather significant when it comes to command checks for recovery from Disruption, since only units co-located with the higher level leader are "not detached" and able to gain the leader benefit in the recovery process -- all the other units in the regiment are essentially on their own. This is actually worse then having Major Anon in command!

I made the observation while looking at the 1812 Beaver Dam scenario, in which the American 14th Infantry is without a regimental commander.
