I remember a professor (and yes I am dating myself a little bit now), was pretty enthusiastic about Francis Parkman's writing -there are a number of volumes, and you can probably find them at Archive.Org among other places as they should all be in the public domain. Although I cannot say as I have ever read them myself (not enough time). The one title I remember is Montcalm and Wolfe but he did a whole set on Britain and France in the New World. |
