Campaign Waterloo or Austerlitz. Small-medium sized scenario and open to discussing rules. |

Are there no French officers worth fighting anymore? Put down your wine sirs, and step away from your tents. The Dutch await you on the battlefield. Or perhaps... ![]() |

Do be careful, sir, as there are many fine officers in the Grande Armee that might take some slight offense. Should you continue to find yourself at a loss for someone to face, I would be glad to offer my services. |

Marechal Bardon sir, If there is anything your officers should take offense to, it's their absence from the battlefield! If possible, I'd like to organize a multiplayer match(2vs2 or so), as I've never taken part in such a battle. If this is not possible, please feel free to send a courier to me with your terms of engagement. I also have NRC and Wagram btw. So the scenario doesn't matter too much to me. |

My compliments to your bravery Kapitein Maddis! I concur with your summary of the nature of the French shame. The rendering you posted was most excellent indeed! I believe it captured the very essence of the French condition. I am not certain that our redoubtable Rat Soldier could have done any better, and he is ever gaining in renown. ![]() ![]() ![]() Herr Bardon is an extremely dangerous foe. The Commander, no less, of Le Tondu's Old Guard. One of only three Frenchmen that I know to regularly peruse the pages of our Forum, constantly on the lookout to redress any sleights directed at the Little Scaramouch that leads them, or the army that follows the Corsican fool. Should you be able to place him in irons, and present him to our Army's Commander-in-Chief, you would no doubt immediately be proclaimed a great Hero of our Magnificent Army. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'm game and willing either way, single or multi-player. No doubt I have much to learn from the redoubtable Jeff Bardon. |

No doubt, my good Lt. Colonel, there are many things that we could all learn from the fine Marechal Bardon. He is a extremely talented officer that presents himself very well in his posts. I must admit that I do personally admire him. The only area that I might criticize is his judgment in the choice of the ruler he follows. Ah, but be that as it may, it would be a boring club indeed if all officers agreed with my disposition that following a King, as opposed to an Emperor, is always the wisest course. I have, in fact, placed a set of Anglo-Allied Recruitment Documents in front of the redoubtable General Knox on many occasions but, to my great disappointment, have never proved successful in actually getting him to sign them. Even when he is thoroughly intoxicated, his resistance remains. ![]() And while we are yet on the topic, I would consider you to be a rather formidable officer as well. I cannot prove that from any combat experience of course, but I have certainly learned to heed my instincts over the many, long years I have roamed this wonderful planet of ours. ![]() Please do be careful Kapitein Maddis, you seem to have upset a dangerous nest of French hornets. In truth, I applaud you for your accomplishment. Only when your jab has been successful in striking it's mark do such notable Frenchmen rise to the defense of their lost cause. Bravo, young Kapitein! Well done I say. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thank you for the encouragement in dealing with these rowdy bunch of louts. It seems the only way to bring the French to the battlefield is to insult them! Of course I won't take Marechal Bardon lightly, and one could certainly learn from him. Anyway we still could use more for a multiplayer battle. I do have some questions though. Exactly what multiplayer scenarios are available? I don't see any in the scenario list. Also, how does the file sending work in one? |

My Dear Kapitein Maddis: There are no specific battles that are multi-player. You can simply choose any battle and divide the forces among multiple players. Waterloo, for example, is easily divided into an Anglo-Allied player, a Prussian player, and one or two French players. The same applies for the large Waterloo Campaign Battle. Any scenario that involves different armies, or different approach routes for combat elements, lends itself well to multi-player play. Regarding the handling of turns, you simply have one player on a side complete his turn and pass the unadvanced file to the second player on the same side. The last player to complete his movement on a side will advance the turn and send it to their opponents. It is important that this file be sent to all of the opponents as it will be the one needed to observe the Battle Replay. Since there are more players involved in a multi-player game, the players need to be well disciplined in their turnaround times as the file has to change hands more times before completing a turn. A careful selection of your partner is important for multi-player play as your fate in the battle is directly tied to his. Hope this is helpful. ![]() |

Thanks for the clarification. So It's up to each team how to divide units? Now if only more brave officers would step forward.. |

In the meantime, to my fellow officiers, let me commend the good Kapitein as quick with the file turnaround and certainly willing to advance as opposed to run from the fight. Cheers! |

I would take pleasure in defeating you in a multiplayer battle Colonel. However your good Marechal Bardon here won't be joining us as he already has too much on his plate for multiplayer. I have started a new thread for this and am waiting for more officers to step forward. |

My Dear Colonel Marbot: While it is true that your French forces are numerically inferior to our Coalition Armies in 1815 scenarios, I do find myself wondering why you fail to mention the fact that about 60-70% of the Allied forces are D and E morale, as opposed to the predominant French morale of B and C. This, of course, precludes the large number of French Guard having A to A++ morale and the significant advantage of the much superior French command strucuture and numerous leaders. ![]() ![]() ![]() Am I to understand that a French officer would consider himself to be at a disadvantage unless he also enjoyed a parity of force with the Coalition Army as well, despite all of these other extremely significant advantages? ![]() ![]() ![]() Have you ever personally commanded an army of D and E grade troops? It requires a great amount of skill to overcome all of the advantages enjoyed by the French armies in these game systems. I would assume that somewhere in your long career, you have. If not, I would recommend it to you. It will provide you with an entirely different perspective of the matter. I would, in fact, recommend it for all French officers as a useful tool to gain a deeper understanding of the forces of your opponent. ![]() ![]() ![]() I must admit that I am not familiar with the particular scenario you referenced. I am aware, however, that there are numerous scenarios, most likely historical in nature, that are hideously unbalanced. Precisely the reason that I advocate one officer choosing the scenario to be played, while allowing the second officer to choose which side he wishes to play. This encourages the first officer to select the most balanced scenario he can find due to the certainty that he will be the one to suffer the consequences of unbalanced play. The relative ability of each officer engaged is also of paramount importance. Your good Marechal Bardon is a fine example of an officer that can play with a disadvantage and still emerge victorious. He is a paramount warrior indeed! ![]() ![]() ![]() <Salute!> I also see that our good Kapitein Maddis has bravely stepped forward to challenge you. I do so enjoy a good measure of bravery in a young officer! It is always refreshing to see. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
