This is just a suggestion, mind you, but I find it is usually best if you negotiate the Optional Rules for any game. A careful selection of unbalancing Optional Rules by your opponent can ensure that you will most likely lose any game before it is ever started. I have seen some young Coalition officers make this same mistake recently. Allowing your opponent to suggest the Optional Rules under which he would like to engage is perfectly fine, but it is safer to always reserve the right to negotiate the final setup before playing. When I was a young officer, just embarking on my new career, I would consult with my veteran Trainer to be certain that the scenario and rules under which I was about to engage were fair and balanced. ![]() ![]() ![]() I just hate to see promising young men walk into blind alleys from which they are unlikely to return. 'Blanket Party' anyone? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have some experience on the other side (ACWGC) and most play with all optional except MDF and no art capture. I have tried to discern what the majority (is there a standard) uses for optional rules.........to no avail. sooooooo for the first few games I would defer to my honorable opponent.......except no multiple infantry melee's.......lol in any case.......I would always reserve my right to negotiate the rules. but anyway..........thank you very much for your "heads up" |

To All NWC Trainers, Academy and Army Commanders: Teaching the function of the Optional Rules to your Cadets is a very important aspect of their training. Supporting these Cadets after their graduation is also critically important. I would like to see both of these philosophies incorporated into your training systems if they are not there already. Direct and continued support of our Junior Officers and New Members will serve to greatly strengthen and enhance the NWC Experience. We will all be better for the effort. ![]() ![]() ![]() But what do I know? I have been told that as the President of our club, that I am only a Civilian. OK, so maybe I am an outspoken Civilian. ![]() ![]() ![]() (And no, Bill, don't confuse that with Citizen. I would prefer to avoid the gentle ministrations of the mass, French execution system, and retain my head for as long as possible. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Support? ... heck I'd just be happy to hear from other Russian Army officers from time to time. Off hand I think Anton is the only one whose emailed me. (my apologies to any others who did and I did not acknowledge.) al |

Now, Al, you know that I offered to make a spot for you among my brave Hanoverians, but you fell prey to the allure of a full metal jacket and sub-zero winters. Not your fault really, I suppose. Anton is undeniably a charming devil with a silver tongue and overwhelming charisma. You are certainly not the first person to fall prey to his persuasive ways. ![]() ![]() ![]() While we are on the subject of armored protection, you wouldn't happen to have crowbar on you, would you? ![]() ![]() ![]() |
