Am currently playing Lieutenant David French (apt) but still have time on my hands. We are playing NIR, I would like to play a scenario from either Waterloo or Prelude to Waterloo. Given my obvious inexperience would like a scenario that is fair to both sides NOT one that the French always win! All optional rules to be used. Prefer gentleman's agreement that leaders & supply are not used to close ZOC retreats on their own. Ditto for skirmishers running amok to the rear to capture objectives, Cavalry yes - skirmishers no, in reality they should only be used to protect their units, not in a commando/SAS role. Any takers? Of course being French you may not relish the idea of being beaten by a mere Ensign of the KGL. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Huh! no French brave enough - no surprise there then - David French you are obviously unusual - you accepted the challenge. Or is it that all the French are deceased? Come on Mon Capitulateuns be brave, I am but an Ensign in the glorious KGL - easy meat for your tally. What do you call a good Frenchman - the deceased. How do you confuse a Frenchman - show him 3 shovels and ask him to take his pick. I recon all the French officers are really Belgian. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Careful, Ensign. That is a dangerous path to tread. Should no one step forward in a week, seek me out at my usual table at the Rhine and we can discuss terms. |

The Anglo-Allied Chief of Staff briefly glances up from his paperwork at the words of the venerable leader of Tondu's Immortal Warriors. Knowing the formidable Marechal of France as he does, he is not in the least surprised that he has chosen to respond when the honor of his beloved Patrie has been challenged. The Major General cannot help but grin at the thought of one of the most dangerous officers in La Grande Armee being drawn away from his other important duties to answer the challenge of a mere Ensign of the King's German Legion. Understandable though, he chuckles quietly to himself as he returns to the neverending pile of paperwork that lies beneath his quill, after all, the good English officer is a Hanoverian. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This is supposed to be a more gentle time, except in battle. Perhaps if you would say something like," Monseur, is that frog leg in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" or "Is that a garlic roasted snail on your moustache or did you just sneeze? That way you are being civil but questioning their manhood and standards of etiquette. They once were the rabble in the street before the revolution.... |

Touché. A bit of witty repartee from a coalition officer, such a welcome break from the typical bombast issued forth by your compatriots. Are you sure you are not French? |

What's this about young allied officer slandering the honour of France? Marechal Bardon say it's not so. |

Sirs, It looks like this brash Ensign may be eating his words next week as he faces Marechal Jeff Bardon. At least there will be no dishonour in losing to someone of his standing. |

At the appointed hour, the ensign of the King's German Legion approached the French Marechal and issued the terms of the coming engagement. Even if I think you chose the wrong side, your courage is admirable. Your brazen challenge and devotion to your cause do you honor, and those are traits that will serve you well. Sir, regardless of the outcome, which as always rests in the hands of fate and the discipline of our assembled hosts, I salute you. |

Salute, Hi yes I would be interested in either BG Waterloo or Prelude to Waterloo and I totally agree that skirmishers should not be doing SAS style forages to capture strategic objectives. Maybe 3 hexes from their mother unit is sufficient. My email address is mark.hornsby@hotmail.com email me and lets agree and start a game, I could do with some victory points under my belt and especially against a British Officer. All the best and good luck |
