Gentlemen,
Looking for an opponent of a major rank and above for The Battle of Ligny scenario version 1 [no units fixed] or historical - some units are fixed. You get to choose the side. I have no preference.

Optional rules:
Image

Pretty much default rules but with:
• Movement Threat Disorder to simulate the chaos of war, as no order to advance against the enemy could be carried out with 100% certainty.
• No Melee Eliminations to avoid the gamey exploit where entire brigades can disappear from the battlefield via ZOC kills in a mere 15 minutes.

Two simple house rules are suggested:
1. No positioning of unlimbered artillery in obstructed terrain
2. No simultaneous melee of the same hex by cavalry and infantry.
3. The exit zone 11,0 is to be ignored [otherwise half of the French army may march and exit via 11,0 ending the battle]

The beginning of the battle is scheduled in a few days so there is plenty of time for the opposing sides to develop their battle plans. I will be slower at the beggining but should be able to handle daily turns from beggining of September.

Alexey, I have a couple of battles drawing to a close, so like you will be slower to start. I would be happy to take the Prussian side if that suits you

Hi.

Have you found an opponent yet? I have been reading through the series "Introduction" that WDS started publishing last year and the series version updates, etc. have intrigued me because it feels like WDS is moving the Napoleonic series to a more historical recreation of tactics, without all the house rules that we use to try and apply.

I am fine with the 3 house rules that you have specified. I would like to try the historical scenario and I can play the Prussians.

I am a Prussian officer of sufficient rank, but I am a little rusty.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,
Thanks for reaching out. Mike’s post was about 30 minutes earlier, so it looks like I am already committed to his responce and I think I will struggle to run two battles simultaneously.

However, if you find another opponent for this scenario, I’d be more than happy to share my thoughts on the Prussian army’s disposition for this scenario to assist with operational options on this battle.

Hi Tom, I can play this with you. Alexey and I have played several times so I am familiar with the rules he likes to use.
