Salute, This 100 page Thesis (downloadable pdf) on the Congress of Rastatt from 1797 to 1799 examines how it set the stage for the end of the Holy Roman Empire.(Title: A Funeral Pyre or Comforting Shimmer of Peace, by Harrison Goohs, Georgetown University) It goes into details of its failure and includes the shenanigans in the death of 2 French Diplomats. Pretty Good maps (in my limited opinion) of German Principalities in the Holy Roman Empire, 1806 Confederation of the Rhine, and 1815 Confederation.
