Post subject:  HPS or Matrix Games?

Hey I'm new here and I was wondering which of these two companies is used more commonly, specifically in regards to the Waterloo campaign? I'm going to buy one of them, but I don't know which one yet - I guess that means Democracy will decide.

Thanks, and see you on the battlefield (Soonish...)

Hi there .
Well , 98% of the guys in this club play with the HPS game Waterloo . as you have a full Campaign plus many scn , Historical and what if. .

Matrix waterloo game is the Old Battle ground game , but has been cleaned up . So it can run on all computers .

I have the old B/G waterloo game but dont play it any more .because the HPS ones give you much more game play .

With HPS games there are always keeping them up to date with patches . and you also get guys making new scn for them.. so in the long run you get more for your money .

Its up to you .. but if you like to play by email. i would say HPS . 100% . Playing against the AI they are much the same . but with HPS you will have lots more battles to play .

I would imagine the HPS games are played much more than the Battlegound games, although the Battleground games do have their supporters and are still played here. The Matrix versions of the old Talonsoft Battleground games only give you the battles of Ligny/Quatre Bras and Waterloo, with various scenarios covering historical and hypothetical versions of these battles.

The HPS Waterloo game includes these battles, including some great variant scenarios, but also Wavre and numerous other historical and hypothetical battles from the campaign. For instance there are some big battle scenarios covering Waterloo and Wavre on the same map, and also battles that might have taken place if the armies had met in other places. But it also contains both linked campaigns (i.e. campaigns comprising several battle scenarios with campaign decisions in between) and single scenario campaigns where you manoeuvre your armies on a HUGE map.

In my opinion the HPS engine is superior to the old Talonsoft game engine, although the Battleground games do have one or two nice features lacking in HPS. Personally I don't play Battleground any more and think the HPS games are superior, although a few people may debate that point...

Anyway welcome to the club and I hope you enjoy your gaming.[:)]
