Hey just a quick drop in to hope none of our Aussie club members were affected by the wild fires going down there. I read 108 deaths! Take care mates. Our prayers are with you.

Best regards to the Aussies

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm, thankfully, a long way from the scene, but there are a lot of people affected by it.

Seems like it's been rough down under. Didn't you folks just suffer thru a bout of nasty flooding in some areas as well?

Well, it's a big place (the fires are about 1800 kilometres south of me, the floods are about the same to the north of me), but yes the climate can be tiresome sometimes. One of our poets wrote "I love a sunburned country, a land of sweeping plains, of something something something, of drought and flooding rain."

We don't even get a proper summer! Just joking. I've been watching with horror the fires on the news. My thoughts and prayers are with our Aussie cousins...

Gentlemen, for the full poem, go to

http://users.chariot.net.au/~kday/australiansongs.html (or copy into your browser). The site also includes Waltzing Matilda (and an American-English explanation of the words).

I live a few hundreds of kms South of Victoria, with a rather large lot of water between. I have a few friends & relations tied up in what's happening (moxt of my friends are OK, if a bit singed or not involved at present, & my relations are in Albury - near NSW border - so should also be OK).

It is not good news and some of the fires are still burning.

As a politician said today: "If you have a God, please pray for Victoria." Personally, they need it!

Yeah but that was two states to the north, so fortunately they weren't right on the back of each other.

I live in Sydney so I, for one, am fine.
