HPS will be putting out Musket and Pike: The Renaissance and an ACW title Campaign Chancellorsville today. See the press release at: http://www.wargamer.com/article/2666/hp ... -new-games The Renaissance uses a modified Napoleonic engine. Rich White did the Scenario Design. Good job Rich! Chancellorsville was done by Rich Walker. Another fine title for that series too! Enjoy! I can't tell y'all just how excited I am with the M&P engine. I've been watching this thing "grow" for two years now, and am happy to see it come to pass. As Bill says, it's a modified Nap engine, but the modifications are far more than just cosmetic, and it's got a lot of very nice "toys" under the hood for us to use. For instance, it's now possible to give every last unit it's own special melee modifier. Likewise, you can rate units with their own VP values. You want that unit of English Longbowman to be worth more points than an impressed mob? It will be! The scope of the game is outstanding as well. There are battles against Turkey (I challenge you to win at Mohacs as the Hungarian!) to the Italian battles, to the French Wars of Religion and more! Swordsmen, Tercios, crossbowmen, longbowmen. This game gives "combined arms" a whole new meaning. You'll have to learn troop types you never considered. I would submit that the NWC consider supporting the REN title under its umbrella. While not Napoleonic, the new M&P engine will fit best here and admin resources are spread thin...so best to make use of what already exists, IMHO. Rich, excellent that REN will be supported in this club. This is a title I am very-very interested in and will play heavy. I can only say Thank You Rich and HPS! Also my copy just ordered. I think I will have it in my hands after 2 weeks. I will thereafter seek battles [:)] Major Ola 'Baron' Berli IR 18 d'Aspre II Armee Korps Imperial Austrian Army ![]() |

Very interesting indeed and I would like to endorse Rich's submission that the Ren. title be supported by the NWC. Expect that 3D will be added in a future update. You may still decide to wait for that of course but I sure would love to charge my pikemen at you in a game Ed! [:D] Promise me that if they put 3D in the game and you like the reviews you will take me up on a game - in a club setting or just for fun! [:p] Future titles are coming out for this series so its just a matter of time to do the 3D (which Mark didn't have unfortunately this time round) for the next game in the series. Yeah yeah yeah, you are going to wait anyway. Could I interest you in a candy bar? HAHA! Ok, cant be coerced to buy right now. How about if I toss in a weekend at Tahoe too? [:p] Two tickets to Carnegie Hall? [:o)] Special mention in the HPS Gazette? [;)] Ok, but as soon as the 3D comes out I will come knocking. With my pike! [:I] May I also mention that some of the scenarios use a 10 minute turn. I like this as it allows us to compare the 15 and 10 minute time scales in one title for the first time. Did I say that the game makes toast Ed? Ok ok ... Just excited like Gary. I love this era. Anyone remember SPI's Musket and Pike? I own the complete GMT Games series - can't wait for their Northern War game to come out or another set of battles for the ECW. Interesting there is no 3d, that would certainly stop me buying it. I am a table top player. I am guessing the 25mm/15mm crew like me like 3d and the 'avalon hill' mob don't care for it either way [:D]. Great to see the huge effort in this one though from the HPS team and testers, the scope is truly amazing. You cant miss by buying this one as you know the engine, know that 3D is forthcoming and you will miss out on all of those drinks that we will be enjoying while you watch on with just your pretzels! [:D] But hey, I understand how you feel about 3D. I always take my 3D glasses with me when I drive! Makes life much more exciting! Many of my Playtesters enjoy 3D and cry because the art isnt ready yet for my projects. I send them a Peanuts cartoon in compensation. It seems to help!
