Can anyone remind me how to get Dominic Derwinski's oob generator to work.

I try to follow the manual but every time I come up against a "An invalid argument was encountered" error message.

I had this problem many years back and finally resolved it but the old grey matter can't remember how.

Any sage advice much appreciated to save me typing it all out long hand

I have used it in the past but can't remember how to get you past that point.

There are sometimes when its nice to use. Most of the time I just use a text editor.

What are you trying to do? At what moment do you get that error?

Hi Dominik and thanks for your reply.

I want to generate a new oob, based on unit types from Napoleon in Russia.

My file directory structure is as follows

Root:\OOBs\Data\
Root:\OOBs\Manual\
Root:\OOBs\OOBEditor.exe

I start the application (it is the battleground editor), and at the editor screen select File - New - Empty OOB.

I answer yes when asked if I want to make a new Empty OOB, then enter a name (Lutzen) for the workspace text file to be saved as.

The workspace properties window opens and I name the workspace title Lutzen (although I have tried other names without success). I name the OOB file Lutzen and choose to save it to the desktop. I name the backup file backup and save it to the desktop. I select the Napoleon in Russia file from the data directory for the target file.

I do not select pictures, faces or icons.

When I press Accept, I get the error message "An invalid argument was encountered".

I have tried several different file names and tried to work from an attached oob but always seem to get this message when I come to the Accept option.

I have not yet tried to work from an existing oob, that may be the easiest solution.

I remember I used the programme a few years ago and it was a great help. I would love to get it to work again, so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Mark
