Gentlemen, something bizarre has happened! I worked with Eckmuhl Historical.scn in Scenario editor, and had embraced there its Hexes/Shift Units On Map sub menu for to move a squadron to its Parent unit. When I had filled Shift Dialog box with X Shift and Y Shift infos, suddenly, after OK, all units and objectives disappeared from the map. The scenario map is empty! I lost the scenario plus a huge piece of my editing work.[:(][:0][V] How can I get it back[?] Is it possible at all, or that trick is kind of some author's security? The values you entered in shifted all of the units off of the map. To get them back enter the the same values only with negative numbers. In other words if you shifted: X - 60 Y - 80 Then do this: X -60 Y -80 This will restore the units to where they should be. The units are still there. The hex locations are set in the .scn file and all you have to do is check out the .scn file in a text editor to figure out where a sample unit is. Then check it against the default version of the scenario. Find the difference between the two hex locations and that will provide you with the X and Y values you need. Nothing about the scenario editor is secured against the user. But there are times when some users need security like what you talk about to keep them from screwing up the file! [;)][8D] I remember a few users I used to support in my org that probably never should have been allowed to touch a PC ... Hi, Bill! Thank you for the answer, but your way does not help. But why that Shift Units On Map is a so killer? It has "cleared" Eckmuhl Historical.scn map in my PC, I cannot play it and have to re-install the whole Campaign Eckmuhl again. That is the terrible bug. The interesting detail: after I had filled Shift Dialog box with X Shift and Y Shift info and pushed down OK, all units from the map got back to Unit Dialog box (OOB), and those in Scheduled Dialog box are still there but they got the wrong coordinates of hex for coming on map. They all in the bottom part of map. I use the editors pretty much. I'm a historian, and my major object is the Military History, of 18-19 centuries - especially. HPS scenarios and OOBs have lots of inaccuracies, omissions etc. I'm a stickler of the Realism & Historicity way of gaming in our club - that's why I work a lot with editors - make my own OOBs, Unit Icons, scenarios, House Rules etc., but that Shift Units On Map feature I used the first (and guess the last) time. Yes, I could to save no the file before closing the editor, but I did not want to lose my work: Eckmuhl Historical.scn is based on Eckmuhl OOB - this is a mistake, cause of the battle is happened on April, 21-22nd 1809 - after 6 days of fighting and loses, and Historical.scn starts on April, 16th - the first day of Austrian invasion of Bavaria; that day all opponents supposed to have the "virgin" forces but even your 19th April OOB gives no any real numbers, so I made corrections right in Eckmuhl OOB, and was forced to increase strength of all troops on the scenario map, with the Editor's feature Increase Strength just by pushing goofy on button +1, and you can figure the volume of my work when the Austrians, for example, had on the map only 50-70%% of real strength in their Btns and Sqns. It was very hard work, and I did not wish to lose its fruits. That's why I prefered to save the file... and lost all. I see the scenario editors yet keep a lot of secret booby-traps. Anyway, I have to start all work from "zero". But how can I to increase strength of Scheduled Reinforcements? There are no them on the map yet. Evidently, I have to make a completely new scenario... Oh, man! [:(][V][:(!] ![]() General-Adjutant Prince Vladimir Repnin 2nd Grenadier Division 8th Corps 2nd Russian Army, His Imperial Majesty Chevalier Guards' Chief ![]() |

Vladmir - send me the .scn file. I can fix it. It did not wipe out your game. The Units Shift feature does NOTHING to the map files. If you send me the .scn file I believe I can help you out. Any other files that go with it too that you may have modified. I haven't done any work with the Nappy scenarios but I've done a lot of work with the ACW editor over the years. I recommend doing a Save As and rename the scenario file anytime you work with the stock scenarios so as to keep from messing them up. Also if you do this it will keep your modifications from being wiped out when you do an update. Lastly I keep a file called Working that I use when trying new functions in the editor, that way I don't lose my previous work.
