All the Guards as well as all of the troops of Saint Petersburg garrison are present on the Dvorzovaya Square. Drums roll breaks and it leaves the square and troops in complete silence. The morning is misty so the the far side of the place are hidden in fog with the Admiralteistvo being just a shadow. The far ranks of His Majesty's Guards disappear in the fog leaving a complete feeling these ranks are infinite. Not a whisper is heard on the huge place. The human and horses exhalations make the fog even thicker. A cuirssiers general in golden cuirass comes out of the palace. He mounts his huge dappled grey horse and rides toward the three squares of Semenovski Life Guard regiment. The regiment is headed by a young but officer. But a coat of General Fieldmarshal and a black and orange band over his shoulder leave no questions of his battlefield skills and experiences. These two salute each other and the cuirassier starts reading: " To be read in all the batallions, squadrons and artillery companies We, Alexander the First, Tzar and Autocrat of all the Great and Little and White Russia and others, and others, and others in recognition of his long and faithful service with 38 Major and 5 minor victories over the enemies of the Crown We decided to create Our count Gulyaev General Fieldmarshal and cavalier a prince of Russian Empire. Taking into account that three of His Major Victories were achieved in the vicinity of Smolensk We allow beforementioned count Gulyaev to attach the name of this Our city to His surname. We hereby order all the citizens of the Empire to address the beforementioned count Gulyaev as prince Gulyaev-Smolenski. This third day of October in the Year of Grace one thouthand eight hundred and ninths [signed Alexander] " Hurah to his excellency Gulyaev-Smolenski! And waves of powerful russian HURAH! roll over the Capital of Midnight...... The cuirassier salutes with his swords, than puts it back to the scabbard. He approaches the Prince, shakes his hand and says "Congratulations, my friend!"
![]()
Eyo Imperatorskogo Velichestva Leib-Kirassirskogo polku General-Adjutant Anton Valeryevich Kosyanenko Commander of the Second Army of the West
|

These Russians certainly honour their best officers in style. Well done to General-Adjutant Anton Valeryevich Kosyanenko Commander of the Second Army of the West for his efforts. Now to the issue at hand. Helga Vodka here for my friend Prince Gulyaev-Smolenski, congratulations sir. And I thought we had fancy titles. The Tzar seems even more glory orientated than our Tondu. Sir Muddy reads about the new Russian Prince in the newspaper at the Rhine Tavern. He smiles and chuckles a bit at the pomp and circumstance that his Russian Allies take pleasure in -- like the French he thinks a bit. "Helga, roll out another barrel of your good English Ale. I think that we are going to have to celebrate. Oh, and you'ld better find some of that vodka water as well." The Field Marshal raises his glass in silent salute and waits for the crowd that is sure to be headed for the Tavern tonight. FM Sir 'Muddy' Jones, KG 2nd Life Guards, Household Cavalry |
