I was trying it out but couldn't get the hang of how to combine forces to attack. Was playing the 1805 scenario.

Gene Renna really likes the game and is going to help me figure it out if I dont catch on by myself.

I like the idea of operational movement. The combat system is decent too.

All in all a better simulation than Empires in Arms or Crown of Glory.

It's much more difficult to create a realistic model on such a level. And it depends very much on the calibration. I didn't like the way leaders abilities are portrayed. Napoleon seems to be a God of warfare, the Duke - a halfGod the others being plain as a blank page. I believe all the persons from the rank of full general and higher could be described much better.

Also some of the scenarios are very poor in setting. In 1812 scenario disposition of the troops on both sides is completely unhistorical. In particular the 2nd army is placed so much to North-East from it's actual position there is no problem in joining Barclay. Russo-Swedish war is completely spoiled. The whole campaign happened in all of the Finland while there is only a smallish stripe of this huge area available in the game. I didn't like the way allied troops were organized in 1805 and 1806 campaigns. An army with several divisions in it with no corps bodies between army and divisional commanders was a normal practice. The way it is done allied troops have a very odd organization.

That said the game seems pretty interesting, but all of these "shortcomings" somewhat spoil the game. Unfortunately I didn't get if there is a scenario designing tool so they can't be cured by the society (bravo HPS! [8D]).

The map is extremely inaccurate, especially in Germany (or do I notice it more there). That spoiled this game for me.

It's odd. The other games in the series are much better.

Dierk,

Same for Russia. The South-Eastern part of the map barely resembles the real map.

I like it Klaus...given some of quirks and trying to learn how it works...its generally fun....also Crown of Glory Emperor's Edition is more in depth and can be fun too....its a nice break from the ordinary...

I've had it for a while but just can't get my head around it. Seems a wall of detail to manage. When I've just flung myself into it, it's all seemed very random.
