Post subject: | An Unusual Career in Four Club Armies |
Gentlemen, As most of you know, I may be the person who has transferred between club armies most often without ever leaving the club, having in turn served the Prussian, the British, the French (Bavarian), and again the British army (where I do intend to stay, to be sure). Over all this time--more than eight years in the club--I have kept meticulous records of my involvement. I have recently taken some weeks to compile all this information in a single web page outlining the details of this probably rather unusual career. Anybody interested is hereby invited to take a look by clicking on "Scotland Forever", below. Just one amusing detail that came to light by compiling this summary: In three army transfers, each time losing half my points, I have burned the staggering total of 1464 points, worth very nearly a lieutenant-generalship in the British Army. In fact the points I burned this way slightly exceed those I presently have (1442). The combined total of points kept and points wasted would make me a British field marshal, with 606 points to spare. This is probably as good a place as any, looking back over these eight years and some months, to thank all those who have taught me the games in many a hard, but also many an enjoyable lesson; those who made me feel at home wherever I have served; those generous superiors who made each of my three transfers easy and painless; and here above all the leadership of the Anglo-Allied army and the entire Coalition officer corps who welcomed me back after three years with what to them must be the dark side. It isn't to me. Once you've been where I've been you know there are great traditions, a great esprit de corps, and above great people everywhere. I just happen to feel a little bit more at home wearing the red coat. My thanks to everybody for making this a great club. I enjoyed my first eight years. I am looking forward to the next eight. Well, it was brief ... but if you scroll all the way down, there are at least the official details of the games I played, minus the points. |

Dierk Very interesting carreer ! I don't remember that I gave you so much honnor in French Army. Without kidding, you were a very good Commandant of the Ecole de Mars and you were a good advisor for the future of french school. More, you were a very good fighter and I tried to keep you in french Army. But as you said, English Army was your house. Hope for you eight years more of pleasure in this club Friendly CR Marechal Lamezec Armée de Reserve |
