Gentlemen I am getting confused about the number of "Nappy" games on the market. I like Battleground and HPS and have a Matrix Game plus AGEOD. Taking all the Matrix games into consideration and knowing my preferance for battle field action how do they rate Marechal Bruce Hall Grande Duc d'Arcole et Comte d'Artois Chasseurs à Cheval de la Vieille Garde, CoS L'armée du Rhin ![]() |

Bruce - usually the strategic games are a bit weak on the battle engine. I have AGEOD and it calculates the battles apart from the players moving any troops or committing them on a battle board. Empires in Arms was a bit bulky to play. Fine if played solitaire but too many emails back and forth between players. The main thing about those strategic games is their diplomacy, finance, troop raising/deployment, etc. Frankly I liked Frank Hunter's early games on 1806 and 1809 just as much as the newer ones. Colonel Bill Peters Armee du Rhin - V Corps, Cavalerie du V Corps, 20ème légère Brigade de Cavalerie, 13ème Hussar Regiment HPS Napoleonic Scenario Designer (Eckmuhl, Wagram, Jena-Auerstaedt, Austerlitz and ... more to come) Not the President of the Musket and Cannon Club ![]() |
