A commotion at the door, bells ringing loudly, and then hoofbeets on the porch. Could it be Santa and his Reindeer?

No, it's Sir Muddy and his horse doing a poor imitation of St. Nick and his flying companions. Sir Muddy, as usual, is all dressed in red and singing good cheer. His horse, meanwhile, is sporting some reindeer antlers and bells on his harness.

"Helga, break out a barrel of my good Christmas cheer for me and all of my friends. Let no one leave thirsty."

Cheers to all!

Redecorating at Christmas is not fun.

Thank God for Polyfilla. Lining paper on before it dries out and everything falls off the wall, again.

So it's a relaxed Xmas Eve here. Watching the wallpaper bulge and deep in prayer. Anne suggested a votive offering of wine and nuts on the mantlepiece but decided it was too Wiccan, so we consumed it instead. Drinking leftover champagne from my birthday and consuming cheese from Dutch friends which probably contains cannabis, or maybe that's the port. Listening to a new CD my brother bought us for Xmas which Anne says sounds like the Sally Army on speed.

Several e-cards from opponents which range from very Catholic to downright pornographic.

There have been worse ones I suppose.

If God is merciful then Christmas Day will be spent painting, and a goat will be sent to Africa in thanks. And we will crack open a bottle of a nice little Aussie chardonnay Cat's Pee Up A Gooseberry Bush. If He is not, then we throw ourselves on the mercy of the neighbour and the Africans go hungry.

Need another cheese hit.....
