I have only a few hours fiddling with the terrain editor for Les Grogs. I'm yet to play my first battle, even, but the features are brilliant. I think it will be a great asset for NWC. Our armies are about to swell, I should think, with enthusiastic players and the veterans here will be equally thrilled as they experience the game. Just wonderful.

Still lots of problems with this game I think - more sizzle than steak - I was frustrated trying to get the demo to work and just ended deleting the file
They will have to impove the demo before I would consider buying . HPS remains superior product

The first Demo was a mistake...the game is vastly better than that...I am waiting to try Demo II...which I hope they give out...it was given to those who pre-ordered and they said it was certainly much better....

By the time v.2 is out along with demo II, after all the 'grenadiers' input, I think you'll find a great game that you won't delete. Yes indeed, demo 1 was a taste but it was a dog and you were quite right to put it out of your/its misery.

Harry,

Did they fix the tendency of cavalry to go on suicide missions as they did in Demo 1?

Well, a little. ;) In the full game you can adjust the doctrine and try and rein in your cowboys. However, I remind you that cavalry were historically a little silly once they had their blood up. If they were English cavalry you wouldn't expect anything less!! Still, the demo v.1 I think had them on max aggro, eh!

To be honest, I haven't yet had enough experience to tell you. I've got PBEMs going of Friedland and Eylau at the moment. I'll let you know what I find out as they get fully going.

Patch01a ... delay. But when it is out tomorrow probably, pbem red screen error will be fixed. So pbem games may start after tomorrow i think.

Once a year has gone by on this game I will check back in. Looks to me like its still in the developmental stage and customers are going to be paying for more development time guys.

Frankly when you put out a game it needs to be further along than this.

Yup, John Tiller has to make minor tweaks to his games now and then but they work right out of the box. You don't get a crashing program for the most part.

I will just watch the club activity on the game (meaning completed games) and once I know that its become a mature product I will lay down my dollars on it.

If I miss out on alot of good gaming so be it. I have plenty to keep me busy at present anyway. And many games to still get used to that I bought last year.

I just dont think that a developer/programmer should put out a product that has this many corrections that needed to be done. Alot of hype went into this game, it didn't get released as advertised and is still very buggy.

Once I see that 30-50 games have been finished and by at least 20 different members I will become interested. 1-10 members (fanatics) wont capture my dollar at this point.

Ah good on you, Bill. There was some discussion on the histwar forum about the timing of releases and patches and wotnot viz a viz Napoleon TW. It all had a sense of rush about it.

I suggested that those likely to play LG will come when they're ready (or, perhaps, when they think the game is ready) and won't feel the urgency others might. Like you say, a little water will have flowed under the bridge but what the hey! You'll enjoy it whenever you get there and not have to struggle with the rough edges that the vanguard stumbled over. Nice to have my guess supported. ;)

Very sensible from your part, too.

That said, enjoy the demo II when it comes out. Very pretty work.
