Post subject: Dismounted Cavalry!

Hello,

In Austerlitz (from readme txt file)

- Added Dragoons to the cavalry types, which can dismount.

Anybody know of a scenario in Austerlitz that you can do this?

Still looking for some Dragoons...

Yes, you press the Change Formation button on the toolbar similar to how you change infantry from Line to Column or from Square to Column.

Only added them to one situation where the were used as such. If you want to copy the OBs and change the dragoons to be able to fire mounted and dismount the code is easy to check. Just open up the Wertingen OB and look at the French dragoons for a sample.

D type is dragoons

Q is for carbine

I sent John a note about changing the text for the "Formations" section of the User.pdf file so that not only are Dragoons included in the text but also artillery. For some reason artillery was not noted under that section.

I'm actually playing a game against FM Jim Hall

There are some tactical advantages to dismounting the Dragoons, but really they still are cavalry for casualties, so its a fairly expensive option unless you can get them into position quickly.

I seem to recall that in this period, Nappy had a number of dragoon units that were, in effect, infantry, simply through the lack of good horses in France.

You wont find them at Austerlitz. At least none of the OBs I used had them there.

They also appear in the 1806 game.
