Hello,

I have from my Austrian sources determined full strength numbers for an Austrian Bn (1808):

<u><b>Austrian Infantry:</b></u>
Austrian Line Bn = 1,080 men + 25 officers = 1,105 total
Hungarian Line Bn = 1,200 men + 25 officers = 1,225 total

Austrian Grenadier Bn = 720 men + 25 officers = 745 total
Hungarian Grenadier Bn = 900 men + 25 officers = 925 total

Grenz Bn = 1,300 men + 20 officers = 1,320 total
Karlstadt & Banal Bn = 1,400 men + 20 officers = 1,420 total

<u><b>Austrian Cavalry:</b></u>

<font color="blue"><u><b>French Infantry:</b></u></font id="blue">
Line Bn = 840 men + 25 men = 865 total

Thx!

Paul,

A quick overview you may find at this site
http://napoleonistyka.atspace.com/
In particular for the French infantry here:
http://napoleonistyka.atspace.com/Frenc ... ganisation
and for the French cavalry here:
http://napoleonistyka.atspace.com/Frenc ... ganization

I suggest that you use info in terms of batallions/squadrons rather than infantry/cavalry regiments. The former were a real tactical "atoms" while the later were just a vague formations. Structure of batallion/squadron remained rather stable compared to regiments. Recall the structure of French infantry regiment - 3 bns, then 2, then 3 again, then 4, then 5 and even 6, then again 3. Batallions/squadrons were to some extent comparable across armies, while regiments were not. Compare British 10 company strong "regiments" of 1812 with French 6 batallion strong regiments of the same year.
