http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/8542 ... la-moscowa Hey, anyone ever play this monster from long ago? A revised edition with simplified rules is coming out next year. Not that I have the 108 dollars needed to own it but its nice to see this one coming back out. I noted that the Marshall Enterprises edition of Austerlitz from the 1980s brought over 240 dollars in an auction that ended today. The Wagram edition brought in less but that was because some damage was noted. I have the Lutzen game. Its fun trying to sort out the counter colors but one thing I will say, you know the uniforms better once you do! |

Bill, A friend of mine bought the original back in the day, think he payed $15-20 for it. He and I played some of the smaller scenarios to learn the system then we got an MP game up at our minatures group with 3-4 players per side depending on how many guys showed up each week. That was a lot of fun, played it for about 6 weeks, about 30 hours worth. I borrowed it from him for several months and fooled around with it some solitare, thought it was a pretty good system, might have to see if we could get it out for another game although we're down to only 4 players in our group now. |

I will never forget - one of my units appeared to have bitten the dust (French hussar) but we used the ZOC rule to our advantage. If you remember the Light cav has a ZOC of all hexes except the rear most hex. I was able to move into that hex and not violate the ZOC rule and thus escape from the clutches of the Russian hussars and cossacks. That was about the highlight of the game though. I was in command of the French left wing. IV Corps, III Cav Corps. Nice force to learn with. |

Man, I wish I lived in a place were these sorts of games happened. Try as I might, I cannot hook up with a group were I live to play board game like this. All the groups I talk to are into fantasy games like mech Warrior and D&D |

I hear ya. The local game store near me is into that stuff too. Mech warrior is about as close as I would go to playing but it doesn't interest me much. |

It's just one small step from getting a mech war player to bite on an old fashioned cardboard game.... Post a note at the store if they have open gaming.... <side note, playing a PBEM blind game of another Clash of Arms title (Brandywine & )Germantown I have command of the 2nd Maryland Brigade. We have battled fog and found ourselves on the sharp end of the stick, rather than the reserve. We have acquitted ourselves well routing 3 battalions of the (much larger) British 4th Brigade who were in column when we came upon them. This despite my own Hazen's Regiment being lost in the fog.... The Hessians are on us now and I am paying the price The German Regiment most of all....)> |
