Bill, I started a new thread as requested to avoid junking up your sticky post.

I can actually see the roads and paths fine in the 2D Normal View. I have difficulty seeing them in the 2D Zoom Out View and on the Jump Map. I have found that when I am playing a campaign on unfamiliar terrain, and need to really study the big picture, it is very difficult to see the transportation system of the area in conflict. This particularly applies tothe roads. Pikes are easily discerned. I usually end up zooming in and out until the picture is firmly planted in my mind. There might be a simple way to modify the graphics to make the transportation network more visible at a distance.

Don't know, just thinking out loud.

Yes, I know what you mean. The zoom out file, however, works with smaller graphics (less pixel width) and I have yet to come up with a solution for this. I do not use the zoom out view much relying more on the Jump Map. I never move units using the zoom out view either.

I am sure that other packs are out there that address this and I should get on my horse and travel the internet a bit to see what they look like. Zoom out is hard for any graphics artist to get right. The combination of terrain level colors also means that any color scheme you pick is going to get lost (unless he used RED!).

You can actually see the paths on your maps? Wait until we release one game where the terrain is pretty congested. I cannot even see them with my nice 22 inch monitor. I have to use the alternate art pack or else my men go off into the rough terrain and orchards.

Mark,

What you're experiencing is great! Maps weren't all that great back then, so having to zoom in and out reflects sending patrols, etc to get accurate info, and leads to mistakes and confusion. What a great game!

I do not use the ZOOM feature too often, but do like it on larger maps to get a sense of the whole situation. I do not think I would use it for moving troops, especially cavalry.

I use Bill's art pack not because I cannot see the roads, pikes, and especially trails etc, but that I can see them much BETTER.
