Napoleon's call to arms has yielded yet another fine French officer.

Lieutenant Monte Gray will, no doubt, make himself known as one to be feared.

Make him feel at home here.

A Hanoverian Lt. Colonel sits, with his feet propped up, at a table near the wall. The massive number of drinks he has recently consumed on the tabs of the three latest French recruits, not to mention the failed attempt to drink the French GdD Knox into an enlistment in the Anglo-Allied Army, has obviously impaired his hearing. It sure sounded like Marechal Corbin just announced a fourth, young French officer joining the ranks of La Grande Armee!, he thinks to himself. No, that cannot be right. The Jagermeister must be hijacking my brain. Even so, it would seem that another toast is in order.

Carefully placing one foot, and then the other on the floor, the Hanoverian officer levers himself into a standing position. Raising his glass in the air, he says, “A toast to the fine French Lt. Gray. The mere mention of his name does already strike fear into the heart of this old warrior. I find myself fearing as to how we will manage to billet all of these new French prisoners we are soon to take. May your victories be few Lt. Gray, but may you always find the resolve to surrender with honor!”

At which point the Hanoverian Lt. Colonel feels compelled to sit down as the Rhine Tavern begins to revolve around him.

The Rat sits in his secluded corner watching the three new peacocks prance around the tavern. His mind reflects on a novel where the three characters were Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. Now as announced, they added fourth. Must be d'Artagnan! Banging his fist on the table, and as the heads in the tavern turn in his direction, he raises his glass and shouts,

" May the four new musketeers wear the colors well and surrender them just as equally"

With that, he puts some coin on the table and walk out into the cool crisp night.

Monte - glad to have you with us. Hope that you will enjoy the club ... our guys enjoy themselves richly on the forum.

Pull up a chair at the table and tell us about yourself. Oh you did THAT! Well fine! Now off to the war with you. You will find that joining the French army has its benefits. You get to play such interesting opponents in the Allied Coalition. Much more interesting than if you had joined say the Austrian army. From our standpoint the French are such dull creatures. Always prancing this way and that way adjusting their feathers and sash. Handing out awards for losing campaigns. "Duc de Leipzig, Baron du Waterloo." Well you will soon get the idea. So sad to fight for the "Gloire du Napoleon" because he rarely shares his glory with anyone!

But after a few titles such as "Order of the Peacock" and "Legion du Trashcan" you will find out!

Welcome to la Grande Armee, Monte!

As you no doubt noticed, there are some amongst the Allied coalition that regret failing to either join France or in the case of M. Peters, stick with France after making his tour of the various Allied commands over the years.

Cheers!
