Post subject: | Back in Black - Please Welcome Jim Bell to the Brunswickers |
Gentlemen Officers of the NWC: Please join me in a toast to the newest officer to join the fine, Brunswick Brigade of our mighty Anglo-Allied Army. 2nd Lieutenant Jim Bell has managed to survive the rigorous training of our esteemed Generaal Moss and has taken his place as the commander of the 2nd Line Battalion of the Brunswick Brigade. As tradition would have it, Lt. Bell, all of the officer’s drinks today are on your tab. You will no doubt be rendered penniless at the outset of your fine military career, but this does tend to provide some incentive to sally forth on the fields of glory to claim the treasures of our fearsome opponents so that you may replenish your personal coffer. I suspect that the fine gentlemen officers of this club will be particularly thirsty in this sweltering, summer heat. There are two English Field Marshalls that readily come to mind, along with two further Generals of our fine, Prussian allies. I also suspect the Commanding Officer of the French Old Guard will appear, demanding a full keg of ale as is his common wont. No doubt, one of his finest cavarlyman in all of the armies will accompany him along with a certain Colonel of the Horse Artillery. There are many, many other fine gentlemen as well that will doubtless attend, but perhaps the thirstiest of all, are my own Hanoverians. Well, since you and I seem to be both present at the moment, what say we set a blazing pace for the others to follow? Helga, a double shot of whiskey for the young Lt. and me! It’s time to get this party started!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Welcome Lt. Do your friends call you Jim Bell, or Jim Hall? |

Ooopps! ![]() ![]() ![]() I made an error in the title (which has now been corrected). We have a very esteemed, British Field Marshall named "Lucky" Jim Hall. While Colonel Amos is here, please be sure to ask him how he acquired his most recent nickname. ![]() ![]() ![]() I blame it on the six shots of Jager I had before I typed this post. And so, where were with this whiskey.......oh yes, it is all coming back to me now. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for the invite and welcome. Formally I go by James, when I need to be official, so James will be good. I was a member of NWC about 10 years ago briefly, very briefly. Hopefully this time around I am here to stay. Looking back I am not even sure why I stopped. I did take a different job at that time, so maybe that was it. I have the 3 BG games, and I recently picked up HPS, Waterloo, Austerlitz and Eckmuhl. I live in Canada so getting the games is painfully expensive with the duty. If anyone has a tip on a place to buy HPS games in Canada, I'll buy you a beer. Andrew, gave me a wee beating in the training, but I was expecting that. I did pick up some good pointers; it was an excellent refresher. Bartender ........... fill em up !!! 2nd Lieutenant 2nd Line Battalion Brunswick Brigade |

Welcome Jim to NWC and to the Coalition Forces. You are indeed fortunate to have had Andy moss conduct your training. In addition to being an excellent gamer, he is also a fine gentleman. Good luck in all your battles. bill |

Welcome sir. I see that the good Monsieur Jones has acquainted you with the customary relieving of what few coins you may have had. I sincerely hope that Generaal Moss's training included several lessons in credit and the art of convincing Helga to extend you a sufficient line so as to pay for the rather large tab that you are accumulating. For myself, ale. Lots of it. Perhaps two kegs this time, one for this fine celebration and another, just because. Cheers! |

Oh no, my good Field Marshall! I assure you, I will never displace the rations again. You certainly do have a way of making a lasting impression, particularly on hapless sub-alterns who were simply minding their own business. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
