Post subject:  HPS Games with Windows 7 (Home Premium)

Hi guys,

Its good to be back here. I just came back from vacation and during that time I was (feebly) trying to play all my HPS Napoleonic games and War of 1812 on my new laptop... I have Windows 7 Home Premium version.

I got all my games installed, patched, and even added a Cobexlaw 1813 Leipzig game. Unfortuntately, I've found that the maps always seem to be a hex or two out of line ... and then when I click the hex/unit that I want to work with, the terrain changes to that of an adjacent hex... there is no end to it.\

Has anyone else had this problem with HPS Nappy games on Windows 7? Is there a reason why this is happening? Is there a solution to it?

I'm hoping to get back up to speed with how to play these games, and then look forward to some battles!

Many thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim!

I run Win7 without problems, but I have my games installed directly under the C: drive, not where Win7 wants to put it. I think that's the key. Good luck. Hopefully, someone can explain it better. al

Yes, do not accept the default path when you install your game. Choose a different directory such as C:\Games\Talonsoft or C:\Games\HPS.

I think that you should read the HPS website note about Windows 7 as well. May have additional info on what you need to do.

Tim,

I also just obtained a new PC with Windows 7. On mine I have 2 drives C: & D:.

What I did was install the HPS in their default location except I changed the C: to D:. I have had no problems and it also makes it easy to install the updates. All you need to do is change the drive letter.

Hope this helps...........................
