Yes, welcome to the Anglo-Allied Guards Class of September 1811, Chas! Wooooh-hooooo! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

I assume that you are aware that the Guards officers recieve the most dangerous missions. As the youngest members of the Guard now, you and I are most likely to recieve the missions for the Guard that are actually considered to be Suicidal. Just so you know. Now, doesn't that beer taste particularly good today.......knowing that it might actually be your last? :shock: :shock: :shock:

I'll check back with you in a week, assuming, of course, that both of us somehow manage to live that long. :roll: :roll: :roll:

Sir, congratulations on your appointment. Though we have not had the pleasure as yet, I do look forward to seeing you on your way with a toast or two after you and your fellows have fallen in the aforementioned suicuide mission.

My dear Marechal Bardon, I am afraid that you may have inadvertently misconstrued something I have said. Please allow me to clarify. The missions assigned to the Anglo-Allied Guardsmen would be considered suicide if they were attempted by French officers. For those of us wearing red, such missions are nothing more than a mere Cake Walk. :shock: :o :lol: :mrgreen: 8)

Lt. Colonel Jones, regardless of your intent, taking the "cake walk" is a dangerous endeavor. For a red coated servant of the shopkeepers to even attempt such a gustatory feat is in fact suicide. As your, if not friend given our present circumstances and recent shots fired in each other's directions, at least passing acquaintance and respectful adversary, I advise you to refrain.

As it is universally understood that we French are the true masters of la pâtisserie and having personally survived the attempt of two of your fellow guardsmen to unleash the horrors contained in the infernal waffle machine (Russo-British design firm of Hendersonov and Nelmski, circa 1812, patents pending, etc. etc.), I encourage you and your fellow inductee in to the ranks of the red tin soldiers to steer clear of such a dangerous path.

My dear Marechal Bardon, I shall take you wise words under advisement knowing that, although we are seemingly avowed enemies upon the field of battle, that you are indeed concerned about my continued good health. Perhaps not for my physical body, but more to the fact that I do not venture too close to the muzzles of your artillery. The "whiff of grape" of which your illustrious leader is so fond, can have a very damaging effect on one's sword, and I suspect that you would much prefer to capture mine intact. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

I have indeed heard rumors of some infernal Waffle Machine invented prior to my commission in the King's Army. I cannot claim that I know all of the details of the device, but I can honestly say that I am pleased you survived the encounter. It would certainly have been a shame never to have met you, although I must admit that your demise would probably have shortened this bloody war. I will certainly endeavor to avoid such a contraption should I ever have the opportunity to encounter it. Thank you for your most kind warning. :P :P :P
