Post subject: | DoR Battles Are Registered |
Gentlemen Officers of All Armies: All of the battles that had been confirmed by both opponents and were awaiting moderator approval have been cleared from our DoR System with only one exception. The remaining battle is slightly unusual, and I have requested some feedback from John Corbin to make certain that I process it correctly. ![]() ![]() ![]() For all other officers, your medals and promotions should begin flowing freely from the various Army Headquarters shortly. No need whatsoever to thank me, but I would be appreciative if someone could buy my new Guards Cavalry Mount a beer. He and I are going to have to work together for a long time I suspect and we really need to come to some kind of understanding. My new horse seems much more comfortable riding Jagers under hoof than having one perched upon his back. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now, for the rest of you recalcitrant officers (you know who you are) who have not yet confirmed the Start or End of your game........well, I really don't have time to straighten all of that out tonight, but I will warn you, I am going to publicly post your names and send both you, and your opponent (who has already confirmed the game BTW) an email containing a deadline for response. If I fail to hear from you, I will take whatever action needed to protect the interests of your opponent. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

OK, it is now the night following. I have dispatched a private courier to every officer having a game requiring the confirmation of either the start, or end, of the battle. The message included a response deadline of one week after which I will process any games that have not been resolved by the contacted officers. There appear to be 10 legitimate games that require an end confirmation. In each instance, the victorious officer is having a declared victory result delayed by his vanquished opponent. ![]() ![]() ![]() For now, I will wait on the contacted officers to honorably perform thier duties. One week from today, their duties will become my own. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I cannot remember - does the system tell us that a End Game report is awaiting our confirmation? If so then there is no excuse for this guys. If not then BOTH parties need to communicate. "I just turned in the End Game report, Joe," type message would be in order. It seems to me that it DOES tell you that you have a game to confirm. Now unless the member cannot log in to his account there is no excuse for this kind of thing to happen apart from the member being deployed to active military service or having a family emergency or taking ill. Lets try and do our best guys and give Mark more free time off from this (laborious) duty. We have our autosystem and should do our best to help out. I like how it asks you to confirm the start and end of a game. That way if there is a dispute Admin can correct it. Or it comes to your attention that someone tried to start a game up with you as the opponent when in fact you are not playing that game. |

Bill, you are correct, the system does automatically send those emails informing the officer that there is a game waiting in the DoR System that requires his attention. So far, the responses to my email last night have been extremely limited. That does not change the fact that in six more days I will act, regardless of whether I have a response or not. I certainly apologize to the officers who currently have their victories delayed, but I do promise to resolve this for you soon. As most of you are aware, I tend to be somewhat proactive in most of the things I do. Our DoR System is no different. In fact, it will very likely garner my attention quicker than most anything else as it directly affects all officer records. Bear with me guys, I am learning here. I may make some mistakes in this process, but if I do, I will certainly make sure I fix them as well, learn the lesson and avoid their repetition in the future. A lot of these issues are probably due to lost passwords or officers that have left the club. As Bill stated, I will need everyone's help to minimize my work here in the future. We have a lot of great things to accomplish in our club. The more things like this that run without problems, the more I can focus on other issues to make this club better and expand our membership base. This is a team effort. As I said in another thread about being a Hanoverian officer, it is whatever you make it. We are the NWC. Together, we can make this club truly great. I am truly proud to be here and extremely humbled that you saw fit to elect me to the Club's presidency. I am going to do everything I possibly can to justify the faith you have so kindly shown. |

Anyone having lost/forgotten passwords or not knowing how to use the DoR should contact me. If I do not hear about problems, I cannot help you solve them. |

Well, only one day left and the responses have been exceedingly poor. Tomorrow, I will clear out all of the games awaiting an end confirmation in acordance with the recommendation of the officer(s) who took the time to properly perform their duties and confirm the game end. If this causes any problems with the officers who have failed to respond, well, what can I say. I know that these forum posts are not widely read within the club, so I will again follow up this last warning with a personal email to each officer who has yet to respond. I will also send a personal email to all officers who have confirmed a game start that has not been confirmed by thier opponent(s). I expect that most of these games were probably never actually started in the first place and that many will end up being deleted from the system. The door of opportunity in this matter stands open for only one more day. |

Well, gentlemen, we did it. We have elimintated the backlog of battles requiring either a player or moderator to confirm the end game result. This means that the respective Army Commanders now have all of your promotions and medal awards sitting in their "Inbox". That's all I can do for you fellows, except to keep my promise that this backlog will not recur, and that I will stay on top of the DoR situation to keep it current within 1 or 2 days. If you see the backlog slip to a week or two, somebody better come looking for me, because it probably means I was killed in a car crash or something equally gruesome. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now, there are still a great many games shown in the system as being In Progress. That is fine. That is what we actually want. These are the games that are "theoretically" in play. If you are having problems with any of your games that are listed as In Progress, I will not know it. To get my attention in the matter, you can either confirm the game as ended, which will move it into the Wait Confirm End category, or you may send me an email describing the problem you are experiencing. My email address is mark(dot)jones(at)neel-schaffer(dot)com (a funky way to write it, I know, but it is supposed to help keep spammers from getting a lock on us). ![]() ![]() ![]() Good luck and good gaming, guys. Have fun! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
