| Post subject: | A Note on Feedback - Nap Titles I Worked On |
Guys - some of our feedback is in the form of "the rank is wrong for this or that leader." My reply on this is "you have free reign to open up the file and change the rank if it bothers you." There are other things that I am just not going to change as well such as if a unit is in Line formation and you want it in Column formation (deployed on battlefield). Now if the unit is a reinforcement and you note that it is in Line formation by all means let me know about it. Rich may feel differently about Waterloo or NRC so this is just my unofficial answer. But the four games I have done will more or less be "set in stone" once I put out the next update. Some of the input I am getting I will have time to add into the updates. One fellow was noting that the British officer ranks in the "Eagle Campaign" were wrong. Well all I can say is I tried to get help from the "experts" over at the Nap series forum and got next to no aid. This fellow was using one of their threads for the basis for his input - I never saw it - just too deep of a forum to really keep a handle on. We do our best - if we can fix it we will. If a scenario will not open, an infantry unit is using a 12lb gun as its weapon type, a uniform picture # is incorrect in the OB - that kind of thing I will fix. If you object to the spelling of a unit ... well I am not going to fight you on it. Feel free to change it in a text editor. Again, I am going to finalize the files in the next update. After that you would be free to change the spellings as much as you want as I would not be doing any more file updates. New files would go to the SDC or to my own server/webpage. Thus I am moving forward and after 10 years of doing updates to the older games (starting with EC) it is time to let those games go. My update project work includes fixing issues reported by customers. I have asked for input on play balance of scenarios and have gotten next to no input on that. The Battle of Jena is one of my projects as it has gotten some comments but for the most part the rest of the scenarios are not getting feedback. This is where I had hoped we would hear from the customers. Not about a British leader I added in (who is fictitious) to the Eagle OB for Austerlitz. That OB for the Brits is mainly What If. The ranks are wrong. I was working from what I could get. The main thing is: does the game work, are the uniform pictures that we made showing up in the right unit slot, that kind of thing. Are units entering the map in the right formation. Is there ammo in a scenario (sufficient amount too). Not much time left for me to work with on these titles as I am branching off into other regions. Boardgame design as well as other endeavors. My Nap Campaign site is another of those and I may have that up and running as the New Year begins. More on THAT later. |
