Adding to my collection of 2D mod artwork I did up one for the Gate hexside so that they stand out from the HIGH wall hexes. Here is what they look like on the map:

(taken from the Dresden map)

While the Road,Pike does help you find the Gates on the map the new artwork I came up with is even better. Right away you can find the Gates on the map.

This is not the default artwork and must be downloaded from my site and then unzipped to the map folder of any of the Nap series games. Get it from here:

http://myweb.cableone.net/williampeters/nap/Nap-Art-BP.zip

This set also includes my artwork mod for the streams, pikes, roads and paths. If you just want to use the file that has the Gate hexside the file you need is 2DHexSides100.bmp.

More art mod work today for Leipzig. Put together a set of 3D fields terrain. They were looking very faint on the map. Here is a screenshot of the artwork:

If you own Campaign Leipzig and want a copy please email me and I will send you the graphics. Is not for the other games.

Bill, don't forget to send a copy of your fine graphics to me. Andy and Anton are starting to move forward at Leipzig now, and I need to be able to better see the fields to spot their prolific ambushes.

As I said before, a much needed and excellent modification.

John - no, I just use the ones that came with the game.

Mark - just saw this but emailed you the set earlier.

If you look at the image above now (refresh your browsers) I did a slight mod to the artwork to add in a touch of red/brown/gold to make the other tiles look a bit different. It was showing up too green for my taste.

I plan on making each tile unique. Too much repetitiveness about them. Probably will not take me too long to do ...

Anyone care to create a set of 2D counters?

Being visually impaired, I find the stock set of counters to hard on the eyes.

Contact me directly if you are interested.

I sent these off to John tonight. Here is a view of the mod in action (in Leipzig only folks):

Image

If you are interested in the mod please email me at:

wmp3662 <at> gmail (DOT> com

This is only for Leipzig so please only folks that own our latest title.

(these are not my graphics - I borrowed them from a file that John sent me tonight - many of you will recognize them as from another mod)

I love the roads and trails and such; they are much more visible now. Thanks Bill.

Yes, I put the roads pack together during the days of Jena. Really does help them stand out better.

My streams pack was done after Austerlitz came out.

The Gate update was because a Wall and a Gate look the same and yes, the road going through the Gate is a dead give away but I like the new Gate look as they stand out right away when I am building maps and I do not have Pikes going through a HIGH wall hexside by accident. Yes, the 3D view helps you note the location of Gates but I build maps mainly in 2D mode. Only when doing a serious amount of hexsides like walls, hedges, etc. does using the 3D view make sense.

Enjoy guys! Again, that counter artwork is NOT mine - I was just helping John out.

And funny enough I went back to the stock set as I am playing Paco in Bonus 3 from Leipzig and I make enough mistakes as it is without allowing a change in the graphics confuse me!

My understanding was the Russians in 1813 had a two company front and had eight companies in a Batt, French had a four company front and twelve companies in a Batt. The Prussians had a three company front and twelve companies in a Batt.

Not sure where you are getting that info Cliff.

The Russians had 4 companies. The 4th was a grenadier but was often pulled out to form a combined grenadier battalion. What used to be a 3rd Grenadier battalion had been removed from the regiment and placed in elite grenadier regiments. Two such divisions existed in 1812-14. The Pavlov Grenadiers would always remain a regiment on their own and would become part of the Guard during late 1812 or early 1813 (I am saying this part from memory).

The French had six company battalions. Now some of the regiments did not have the elite companies from what I remember reading but six companies was the norm.

The Prussians had four musketeer companies per battalion. Three battalions per regiment. One of the battalions was a Fusilier battalion. The regiment had two companies of Grenadiers that were detached and formed into Grenadier battalions.
