If you went to a battlefield for either the Napoleonic or Revolutionary War battles how about sharing with us some of your pictures? Nice way to end the year and to show some of us what it looks like. I remember someone saying that they went to Waterloo and actually I have never seen much of it. Same with places like Wagram (Marchfeld and the heights) or Grossbeeren. |

For several month I'm thinking about establishing NWC blog. It should fulfil the role of Newsletter, with articles published when they are completed. Without timeframes, numbers, etc. I could provide descriptions of my battlefield tours Borodino, Klyastitsy, Polotsk, Ostrovno, Vitebsk, Austerlitz. But not now, with no time and energy in store. |

Then maybe someone creates it and explains this humble rain soaked, mud covered exausted army administrator how it works? And Helga?! Where is my samovar of tea and a plate of baranki? |

I am hoping to bring back the Newsletter myself in a month or two. Once we get past some of the holidays... |

Good luck to you, Scott and if you need help let me know. I tried a year or so ago and it ended with very few of even the Army CinCs providing info. Hoping you can also get folks to write articles. AARs too. I will help in these last two areas. I think that articles on the games themselves is helpful too. How to design scenarios, how the games play. I think that the folks in the H&R project may want to post an article as well as those who play the Hist War game. Always helps to attract more folks to those venues as well as generate interest in new things for the club. |

Mainly want to get topics you mentioned below that in there.... ![]() |

On remembrance Day, November 11, 2011, my wife and I were the Falkland Islands as part of a cruise ship excursion. In addition to seeing a fascinating colony of Penguins, our cross country driver (John Adams) was a former Royal Marine who served as the signals corporal to Colonel Vaux of 42 Commando. This was the unit which successfully captured Mount Harriet at night and effectively ended the war. There are still over 200 live Mine Fields around Mounts Harriet, Kent and Wall due to the fact that the Argentines removed the metal detector tab (contrary to the Geneva Convention). There is still no cost-effective nor safe technology to remove them. I have included a few pictures from the Falkland Islands. The terrain is unbelievably difficult and the weather during the war was almost a constant Antarctic blizzard. Merry Christmas all. p.s. If I did not upload the pictures properly, I will forward them by email to our illustrious President, Mark Jones. |
