Until this club does something to curb certain officers from replying to practically every Opponents Wanted post I am boycotting the use of that forum.

Its getting old guys. The same guys are jumping in and asking to play in just about every game that gets posted.

I know we do not have a limit on the number of games you can play in but here is a tip for some of you guys that just have to jump in on every thread: get to know a few players and just ask for a rematch. Give some of us a break please.

This is about as nice as I know how to say it.

Until some of the guys are asked to stay out of every thread I am not going to use that forum. I think there are more than just me too that is kind of tired of it.

A lot of people are answering challenges... And we are free to answer (or not) or accept (or not) those challenges.

One person I see up there answers practically every challenge on the forum even if you ask him not to. Its really getting old.

Another one is about to get his rear end chewed out for starting up games and dumping on players. It IS a problem. This one person is going to be addressed but there are others that jump on every request that goes up. Its not just me either as I am getting over 15 emails on it.

So maybe if there is problem it should be dealt internally within the chain of command.

I am making both a public and private protest of it and my officers in my brigade have been warned about it as well. One of them indicated that an officer started up a game only to drop it. This same guy has started up many games and dropped them.

It is silly to answer practically every game wanted post. You put something up there hoping to get a mature officer and you get Joe Biggleywipe instead.

Bill

You could just ignore the posts.

No need to trash people here is there?

Geoffrey Boycott scored 22 test centuries at an average of 47 didn't he?

John - here is what I am going to do: I will post my own webpage that has the scenarios/games I want to play. Folks can email me about it and I will deal with it that way.

Here is a perspective from a new club member.
A forum with limited rules of participation will attract all sorts of players, the good, the bad, and the "ugly" (ha, just kidding). But the nature of this kind of beast will come with all sorts of consequences, most of which we have to learn to live with. And if not, then we must address such concerns in a manner 'civilized' and hopefully instructive.
My experience in the forum under discussion has been rewarding when all is said and done.
I have encountered a player who ended up dropping the game, citing too much on the plate, even while they continued to post for games, and answer nearly every one listed. But that has been the exception.
I also have gained a number of great opponents. I currently have 5 matches going, one being a maneuver. Two of them are over the halfway point, and one just started. Interestingly, the most recent game is a multiplayer that involves two of my opponents from other games. I believe I have found a circle of players with whom I will have much more fun with in the months and years to come.
Regards how some players treat the Opponents forum, one thing I've learned in life is, that common sense is not that common.
I would like to say I've found the club to be a great place to find people who love these games, and enjoy sharing the experience of teaching and learning.

Now there is a fine, young officer who displays a most impressive amount of wisdom for such a tender age! Please join me at my rather small table, Lt. Schmidgall. We can share a few drinks, with a strong preference for yours than mine, after which we can discuss the transition of your uniform to a more vibrant shade. As good fortune would have it, I always keep the necessary paperwork to conclude such an agreement close at hand. After all, an opportunity missed is an opportunity lost.

You could just ignore my posts too. (winks in my best Al Amos impersonation)

Like you do when one of my guys tried to get a game but Mr. Nameless stepped in while negotiations were going on and basically stole the game from him. You sure ignored that one. But you are quick to reply to my threads. I guess I should feel honored ....

Trashing members? What do you call it when Mr. Digglybop steps in when he sees that two members are discussing terms and basically tries to take the game away from one of my guys? I call it "he needs his nards ripped off."

One of my guys WAS trashed. Do you really think I am going to feel bad if Mr. Ed gets trashed too? Or is it Wally? What is his real name?

Maybe its JMB again? Would not surprise me.

Wow Bill aren't you taking it all a bit seriously? I am sure their are loads of people you know who you can just email for a game.

It's true some members have been going crazey in the OF but I know this is being looked at and if you read Todd's comments for example it's not all bad.

"Ah, Colonel Jones, Salute!
I gladly join you at your table, sir.
A couple of glasses of wine, please.
If I may, since I have you at my mercy so to speak (ha!)
I am too new to have joined the current tourney in play.
But I believe the next one (this summer?) is to be based
on the Leipzig game.
Any word on that great adventure?
Ah, here are our drinks, to your health, on and off the battlefield.
(off it anyways).

I will join you sirs in a toast to Capt. Crunch, the next member to join that illustrious band known as the Bedrock Militia. Barney Rubble as their CinC! (Mark will understand)

Helga - another lemonade please! That one went down too quickly!
