Hats off (and swords lost) to French Marechals Theron Lambert and Jeff Bardon who have defeated FM Blackburn and myself in a long campaign of Jena (234 turns or so). The French made their main thrust east of the river but our Prussians were able to stay in front of them for two days -- keeping our defense in the forests. On the morning of the second or third day (I lost count), our Prussian forces attacked several French Corps that were pusing along the main north-south pike. Our men were bloodily repulsed and by the end of the day, it was only the arrival of the Russians that allowed us to continue. But the Russians were not able to turn the tide and French reinforcements broke open the center. The outcome was already clear when the Russians ran out of artillery ammunition (note to Allies: add Russian artillery ammo to the scenario before starting). The Prussians surrendered and the Russians tucked tail and returned to the homeland. Helga, a round of drinks on FM Blackburn and myself. Oh hell, just break out the barrel and keep it coming! Salute! |

This Lieutenant salutes the combatants of both sides! I am curious which scenario exactly you were playing (as I am a big fan of the Jena game). Was it the regular Russians are Coming, or was it the campaign scenario Here Come the Russians? And what do you mean by 'add the Russian ammo to the scenario before starting'? Thank you for your consideration, and again, I salute you all! |

And the ammo values were corrected for the next update. My usual offer stands. If you want me to start up the scenarios/campaign for you let me know. |

The Russians are Coming - 524 turns or so - ten minutes turns. Open up the scenario editor and then select the scenario header and look for the artillery ammo box on the right. Just add lots of ammo. |

A salute to Sir Muddy and FM Blackburn as well. There were several moments that the batle seemed to hang in the balance. Theron deserves the lion's share of the credit. His handling of V and VII corps on day 3 to turn back the assault from Hohenlohe and then use the reserve cav and elements of III corps to go over on the offensive was critical. Cheers! |
