Post subject: | Leipzig - Missing Graphics |
Guys - I spent HUNDREDS of hours pouring over each icon in Leipzig. If you find that a 3D icon is "missing" in your view it is due to your graphics card not handling the new set. Missing leaders, missing unit pics, this all, unfortunately, has been a common occurrence for the newer games. The NVidia drivers are mainly to blame. The standard changed and there isn't much John can do about it. He has had to step back to using the older CGI graphics format. So if you find that an icon does not show up OR there is no routed graphic for an image it has to do with the graphics drivers on your system. I did an exhaustive set of testing for the game. It took me a ton of time to do and it was worth it. I identified any fixes that Mark Adams had to do and the set was looked at no less than three times. I did a Routed unit check, for infantry I did a Line, Column, Square test and every unit had a skirmisher detached even if the unit was not a Light infantry type or able to detach one company. Each unit graphic has a skirmisher counterpart even if it is militia that historically could not detach a company. All cavalry was dismounted, all guns were limbered and unlimbered. If you do find something that you really think is a problem here is the drill: 1. Send an email to JTS Support. If you do it via the website form then tell Rich to send you a reply right away so that you can attach a game file, password and hex location where you see the problem. 2. Before you send the email I would also ask that you try waiting until morning to open up the Scenario Editor and the file "Icons_Review-By3D#.scn" and then check out any of the graphics using that file. Scott Ludwig recently sent in a note stating that the routed graphics was missing (in 3D) for the Russians but I checked it tonight. It is fine. Several customers (like myself) also get the odd ball pixels that show up on the leaders pictures. Also for the units graphics. This all in the Info area. They are orange and it is a sign that your graphics card is hot. This never shows up in the morning when I first boot my system. It will if I have left my system running all day and check out the game before I hit the sack. FYI for you guys and hope that most of you are not experiencing problems. Eventually all games run their race and are retired. I am hoping we still have a long run ahead of us but we all know that hardware and a lack of replacement parts will one day retire our great game series. May that day be far off ... |
