Guys - check out the John Tiller website for two updates for Leipzig and 1814. These correct problems customers have been having with the Activation process. http://johntillersoftware.com/Updates.html Other JTS products have updates as well to correct this issue. Note: if you have any problems with the update contact John Tiller Support. The wording on the website indicates that if you had a problem you should update. I am thinking that if you did NOT have a problem then you do NOT need to update. Are there incompatibilities with Leipzig 1.01 and Leipzig 1.01a? Not sure. Ask Rich about it. From what I gather this is NOT a mandatory update but note that the original Leipzig 1.01 update has been pulled and replaced by the 1.01a update. Thus folks that did not get around to updating their Leipzig 1.0 version now have only one choice. My guess is that the intention is for 1.01 and 1.01a to work together. And the same applies for the Campaign 1814 game. The 1814 1.0a update does not have any files other than the main program and the changes.txt file. I will not give advice here. If you are uncertain contact JTS support. They are in the best position to give you a educated response. |

Guys - I did a test of the update compatibility question, had no problems, and here are the parameters I used: 1. I made a copy of the complete Campaign Leipzig folder. I called the new main folder "Campaign Leipzig_1.01a." 2. I left my original install alone. 1.01 update had already been applied. 3. I started up a scenario and played it using both copies of the game. They worked fine. The only test I have not done is to take a copy of the game that is 1.0 and then update to 1.01a. and try it out. But I can say this: the only difference that I can tell between 1.01 and 1.01a Leipzig is that the cpl.exe file is newer in the latest update. Thus no other files were substituted that I could tell. Hope this helps clear up any questions on the update. Bottom line: if you did the update to 1.01 already you are good to go. If you did not then if you are cautious, make a copy of your complete game folder, call it something different like I did and play with it for awhile. If it works, great. If not let JTS Support know about it. There is nothing wrong about playing from a copy of the game. I have done that for years when I wanted to just use a certain set of scenarios, OBs, PDTs and did not want the clutter that goes with the full file set. Or if I was using a "Mod" for a game. |
