Today is the day that we celebrate the landings at Normandy in 1944. But in less than two years we will be celebrating the landings over the Rhine - truly the BEST liberation of France! ![]() Our Allied legions crossed over the Rhine and shook the world with their combat power. Our glorious leader, Blucher, fought until Paris shook with the roar of our Prussian cannon! Hurrah for Frederick Wilhelm III! Hurrah for Prussia! Hurrah for Blucher! ![]() |

Prinz von Dennewitz, salute! May I have Helga bring you a limonata, I believe that is your favored drink, no? What is this you are saying? No mention of Queen Louisa? This Tirailleur will gladly raise a toast in honor of the real man of Prussia. Regards |

Sir, I do believe that Chef de Battalion Schmidgall was complimenting your Queen and insulting your King and his like! For she is the driving force in Prussia and stood strong against the Emperor Napoleon. Besides the last real man to rule Prussia was Frederick II the Great died in 1786! |

Actually the King did a good job in 1813. By then he realized that the only way that Prussia would survive would be to throw off the rule of Napoleon. The rest is history! ![]() |

I believe it was before the city of Dresden, 1813, when the Allies, believing they had the Owl cornered, suddenly heard the triumphant shouts, "Viva L'Empereur!" and the monarchs of All the Russias and the Haplessburgers, desired most strongly to follow the strategy of running when Napoleon was known to be gunning for them, but, it was the Ninny Freddy who argued that with such a superiority of men, surely this was the time to face the Ogre. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending upon POV, as the monarchs argued, the Allied timetable would not be restrained, and the signal cannon fired, and the monarchs, aghast, watched as their ranks marched forward to their doom. Exactly Todd, they had adopted the tactic of avoiding combat whenever he was around and it worked for the most part. Even up to the time of Leipzig they were trying to avoid fighting him. They realized that no one on their side possessed Napoleon's ability to manage battles. Dennewitz, Katzbach, Grossbeeren, etc. All battles lost by Napoleon's subordinates. |

David Stotsenburgh wrote: so our beloved Queen is manly, our King is a ninny . Do you really want to go down that road? i have one word for you, Josephine. ![]() Good Major, as Lt Col Kling pointed out, your Queen is a warrior. And yes, I am saying that Freddy is a ninny, precisely because of what the Prinz Von Dennewitz pointed out below: that the Allies had agreed to a strategic plan, to run when Napoleon was coming, and to fight his lieutenants as the opportunity arose. Freddy cast such sensibility aside and the other monarchs trying to argue the point with him, resulted in L'Empereur's victory at Dresden. Only an arch conservative monarchist would believe otherwise. And what any of this has to do with Josephine, I am unsure. Unless you are pointing out that she is not a warrior - correct, there were no wars instigated by her resulting in the deaths of thousands... Furthermore, I am unaware of anyone disputing the beauty of the Creole empress. To be clear: I am not disputing the beauty of Queen Louisa, even Le Tondu acknowledged the charms of her feminine wiles upon him at Tilsit. Which of course... Regards, |

Quote: The illustrious Bonaparte bloodline definitely didn't serve him very well....Sedan comes to mind. No it did not, but then again most of the European Monarchies were all interbred. And with that I am heading back to the Tavern and drink a lot of German Beer for a change from the fine wine of France. It is more fun to send barbs and jabs in the our imaginary Napoleonic Era.
