I keep on hearing guys asking for graphics links. Rather than start a thread here I thought we had a club webpage that had links to all of the known alternate graphics sites.

If so can ALL new members and old alike be told about them. Folks should be able to just go to the club homepage and find the link that they need.

EXJAX' site keeps on maxing out and gets shut down for a month at a time. But I thought that someone mirrored his site.

I know that Volcano Man put up mods. Philippe Devine's stuff does not have a page as far as I know. Just a set of threads you have to find. I will check with him to see if he has put together a website.

Bill, these should be linked through the 'Club Links' webpage on the NWC Homepage. I have no idea who maintains the 'Club Links' webpage, but the formatting of that page is messed up and the link for 'HPS Napoleonic Mods' currently leads to cyberspace oblivion. Judging from the file path for the 'Club Links' webpage, I am guessing that either Pierre or Marco controls it.

Just to be clear, because I am sure the membership probably thinks otherwise, I have virtually no ability to do anything whatsoever to help this club in regard to our website maintenance, including the correction of errant links or the posting of medals, promotions, or anything else. The best I can do is ask that things be properly maintained. This is not a question of ability, it is simply a question of access. I would take care of these issues and see that they were constantly tended if I had the acess to the websites to do so. I currently don't. As evidenced by a recent post in which I requested to host the Prussian/Austrian/Swedish Army websites during the one month interim that it will take Scott Ludwig to bring them back on line, I was rudely and publically (disrespectfully in my opinion) rebuffed with the simple word "Nope". Bill, you yourself then rolled your eyes at me and made it look like my request was totally unreasonable by your own word of "Sheesh". In my opinion, and please hear me very cleary, those websites should never have been down for even a single day. All it takes is a bit of cordial coordination to bridge the gap of the outage. It was also going to take quite a bit of work on my part to make it happen, but I was willing to do that for the club.

I will do what I can, but I cannot make any promises.

Wow, Mark, get a hold of yourself. First, I wasn't addressing this to you and if the links are not working they can be corrected. Second, I certainly did not suffer from the Prussian website being down. If I, a commander in the Prussian army, am not upset, then you certainly should not be either.

These websites go down from time to time and hey, no one is paying the website guys to maintain their valuable sites so I can wait a day, week or even month if I have to in order to get to the data.

Anyway, sounds like some of the links need to be fixed and I will just check them out for myself and send off a note to Marco suggesting that he get them corrected or removed. I believe he is the one that maintains them.

These graphics sites often go up and down like a yo-yo so I understand if there is reluctance to host links for them. I got a nice note from Philippe explaining to me about his graphics. The Blitz may end up hosting them for him. He is redoing most of the EZJAX graphics to go with his own flavor of coloring. Once he gets those up I know that his stuff will be very popular.

Too bad he doesn't look to Steve Trauth's site to host them. Steve is doing a bang up job of hosting the SDC.

I must say I agree with Mark Jones on this important issue-
(as Im sure do most regular NWC players)

The NWC main and mini-sites do need some work done on them and it does not seem reasonable
to denny access to them (for no reason) to those interested in helping out.

And yes.. It would be great to have a link for graphic fixes soon.

Post subject:  Re: Graphics Links

I will create a webpage with all of the graphic upgrades that I will personally maintain in the future. I will ask Marco to place a link on the NWC Homepage to it so that everyone can access it. I think I have most of these upgrades in my hard drive as I made a point of storing them in the past and giving them to the Anglo-Allied Cadets as a part of their training. Hopefully I can get this done for you fellows this weekend. I have a pretty heavy load as my wife expects that I will build a shed for her in addition to cutting the grass and running the farm, but sleep is really highly overrated in any case.

If I am missing any mods, I will add to the webpage as I get them. Any new mods will be added as well as they are developed. In this manner, we can collect all of the mods we need in one place for our club and not be subject to any number of other links changing over time.

I will do what I can, just bear with me for a few more days. I am not a consumate webmaster yet. I had to learn my trade from scratch and still have a way to go before I get to where I want to be in that regard. I am, as always, a continuing work in progress. Or as others would say, a piece of work.

As a Prussian officer I am of the opinion that Scott has done one hell of a good job and spent a hell of a lot of his own time on the army web sites. You want to talk about disrespectful ...how about turning this issue into public Johnson waving contest on open forums........Now thats disrespectful !!!!!!!!!! This ain't real life or a business its a hobby and there does come a time when folks run into problems or family activities that take time away from this hobby of ours.

Have a nice day

Post subject:  Re: Graphics Links

Walt, what are you talking about? I have not posted anything disrespectful about Scott's contributions. And this certainly is no form of power trip or contest. I see two Prussian officers reacting rather strongly, yours much more than Bill's, to seemingly 'protect and defend' their army commander who is not under attack. All I said in my first post, very politely I thought, was that there was no need for half of the Coalition Army websites to be down for a month. With teamwork and coordination, this should never happen. I would have been glad to have temporarily kept those sites in service for the benefit of any potential new members that might have been considering joining the Prussian/Austrian/Swedish armies in the interim. This would have protected the visible portions of our club while allowing Scott whatever time he needed due to real life issues to complete his server transfer. There was absolutely nothing disrepectful in my tone either then, or now. I did, however, consider Scott's curt response to my offer to be disrespectful, particularly since I was volunteering to do all of the work myself which was based on my generally larger view of the club as a whole, and no army in particular. That is one of the repsonsibilities of being President, I look at the big picture, not just my individual piece of the world.

Please directly quote from my previous posts the exact words that I used which you consider to be so disrespectful of others that you would make you post something like you just did. Show me your point. Here is the link to the previous post so you don't have to go searching for it.

Well Mark if Scotts response to you of "Nope.....realistically I should have them up some time next week, that weekend at the latest. I am going away for vacation Wednesday and will do it when I get back" can result in "I was rudely and publically (disrespectfully in my opinion) rebuffed with the simple word "Nope"" posted in a thread that had nothing to do whatsoever with your complaints in the "Switching servers" thread then my response here should come as no great surprise.....Yes I will defend Scott if I feel there is a need to do so.

I would expect no less of any officer relative to his commander, Walt. Maybe I am off base here. Maybe you simply lack my perspective of many things. Maybe I lack yours.

For you other officers reading this thread, rather than continue in the present line in our public forums, I would ask that you send me a private email and let me know your perspective. I am honestly surprised by the strong reaction of Bill and Walt, so I am obviously missing something here. I would appreciate a wider view of this matter from the perspective of the membership. If I have crossed some boundary of good conduct here, I will certainly apologize to my good friend, Scott Ludwig, and the officers who so valiantly have risen to his defense.

i have to agree with bill and walt on this. scott does a great job hosting the websites and it doesn't bother me that they have been down. i am sure scott had a reason for his response and i'm sure it pains scott as much as you the webistes were down for unforseen reasons. mark you are the president of the club but scott runs the prussian army and if there are no complaints from his troops then what is the problem? scott said he will have them up shortly and i am sure that will be followed by an orgy of medal awarding and promotions being given not to mention another major prussian recruiting drive.. relax.

Post subject:  Re: Graphics Links

I have sent a link to Marco to post on the NWC Club Links page that will allow all members to readily download both the 2D, 3D, and Unit EZJax Graphics Mods. I have also stored all of the modification files on my hard drive so that we will have a backup for the club in case the EZJax webpages are taken offline as they have been in the past. I will also save and organize the other modifications I have on my hard drive so they will all be in one place when needed. I will upload these files as well to my server so that we will have a backup in case something happens to either hard drive.

As a general announcement, I would encourage all Trainers in all armies of the club to make sure you tell your new recruits about these graphics mods when you are helping them set up their systems. I personally think they add a great deal to the HPS games and am sure most of you that use them will agree. I will also make a file of the Volcano Man Mods as I know John Corbin favored those if memory serves.

Wow Mark! Just think if you said you were going to help with world peace! There'd be a SEAL team at your house by now!

Thanks for putting up with everyone here as well as you do, and thanks for a consolidated graphics update center. I guess that's what this thread is all about. I lost track.

Thanks Mark. A one stop shopping location for the club members of MOST of the graphics links is needed. I plan on putting up my own webpage that has my artwork and will send you the link once I get it done. In my copious spare time that is!

Excellent, Bill! I definitely wanted to include your graphics work as well. I think I use everything you ever modified in this regard as I predominately play in 2D and your graphics mods make everything much easier to see. I don't think I have downloaded your latest Fortification mod, but I do remember seeing it in a recent thread, so I will go back and put that one in my games as well. Sir Muddy and I have a new game starting in NRC against Al and Todd and, in studying the map for the upcoming engagement, I realized there were several Russian fortifications that I had initially overlooked because they did not stand out the way they do in your graphics mods. That reminded me that you had one I had missed.

The link I sent to Marco is only for the EXJax Mods at the moment and should be a helpful stop gap until I can get the time to create the new website and compile all the modifications. I fully understand the concept of limited time and a whole lot to do.
