Officers, salute!

I am writing this because I have some concern for the well-being of one of my opponents.

I have been engaged in two excellent battles with Walt Moehle, a Prussian officer of great repute.

We have been playing two battles, one of which is a team match, for nearly 9 months now.

The turn rate and email exchanges have been typically several times a week for that duration.

Suddenly, nearly a month ago, Walt has stopped sending game turns, and all enquiries have brought only silence.

There was no advance notice of taking a leave of absence from the games.

Walt was also a daily visitor to the club forums, posting regularly.

I am concerned about what has happened to him, and all discreet questions to others about this matter have brought forth no answers, so i am writing here and now.

if anyone has information that is helpful, please send a PM to me here at the club.

Thank you for your considerations of this matter.

Regards,

I also had a 1812 H&R game with the Prussi ,but the Prussi Army is like that they go AWOL and their commanders does not follow up on them. I hope all is well with him he a bon garcon .

Last I heard from him was July 23rd or so. I am sure he'll resurface at some point. Sometimes he goes missing, depends on what is going on, though it is unlike him not to say anything. I have not seen anything posted online that would suggest anything has happened per say.

As for Cliff's comment, I am not sure who you speak of, but if I don't know about it I can't do anything about it. Plus I can't make people appear out of thin air. I don't think it is any more unusual than any other army.

The Allies have some great officers but (RESPECT) is am busy will get back to you or unable to continue game sorry. In the French Armee we have muster every month. Also their is a need to have Brig. Commanders that keep in touch with the men in the Brig . Or maybe we should just do away with Div. and Brig and let the CnC and Corps commanders do all the work? :P

cliff,
only you would take the fact that walt has gone missing from the club, and we all hope that it is nothing major and turn that into a dig at how the prussian army is run. perhaps instead of sending negative energy towards the prussian army you would be better served to send some positive energy walts way so he can get back to gaming sooner. also the prussian officer corps has no complaints about how our army is run, i think we rather enjoy it.

Nay Monsieur I am taken a swipe at the system, were as the Armee all of them need a better chain of Command and that the CnC of all the forces should allegiate responsibly down though the ranks. Hold your men to be respectful of the people they play and act in a military manner. When a player plays another it is only right that he does not leave him hanging. An in my life I know that when someone says what you say it not a positive reason he is sending back but a personal reason . We should all be hold accountable to one another. Let your Brig officer know that you are unable to complete a game there are number of reason why a person is unable to continue. It only shows that there is no communication between that person and his Brig commander other then am in you Brig which means nothing. Not one of us in this club has to continue a game but we do so out of RESPECT towards one another and oui the chain of command needs to be better and what and why have rank if you do not want to tack responsibility of that office.

cliff,
i agree with your recent post, it is good etiquette to let your opponents know when you will be away. i wrongly took your previous post as a jab at the prussian army and i apologise for that. hopefully walt will turn up soon.

Let's bare in mind that there can be a whole host of reasons why someone is NOT able to send a message. People have lives and stuff happens in them. Sometimes the last thing on your mind is this Club.

It isn't always about respect, it is about priorities! What is most important when a crisis hits.

Sure folks can be better about communicating....

Monsieur one of the most simplest thing is to have a chain of command . In a Brig all they have to do is keep in touch with the few men under his command, a phone call or a note it doesn't have to be always by the net. I know many will say I have a life outside of the club. Well you join the club not only to play but get to know like mind people . Like I told them in Church there's no such thing as my space. When you made the choice to be part of this your space went home alone ! Get to know one another or those under your command just like you give people you work for and work with, leave a number where we can get in touch with you. Not every one needs to know that just your commanding officer be a club not just a bunch of invisible people.

Officers, salute!

I have finally received a message from Walt Moehle explaining the situation... well, sort of.

The good news is that Walt is not absent due to any illness or other grave personal matter (!) :D

The bad news is that the Oberst has informed me that "as for the games and NWC, I am done."
He assured me that this decision is not related to anyone of his active game opponents, but other than that I cannot say.

I for one will sorely miss Walt's presence in our club forums (where he was always ready to provide what assistance he could to officer's in need), and as a most noble and worthy opponent upon the battle maps.

That said, his resignation has opened a spot in a team match game in which myself and two other officers remain committed.

May I direct your attention to a re-opened post in the Opponent's Forum (Brave Allied Officer Needed) that will give the pertinent details.

Thank you for your considerations.

Unlike many in the club Walt was into the H&R more then just getting rank an points and gamy playing (games under 66turns). I will take his place if you need or can't find a Prussi to play . Like I said before Haiti is a country to itself not French or Allied.

Cliff
Email sent your way this afternoon. After discussing things with Scott I will be staying with the NWC provided available time permits me to remain active at a reasonable level.

Walt

All of my opponents have been notified that I am back in business and battles renewed with the warning that due to real life issues my turn rate could be a little erratic over the next couple of months. The primary cause of my problems over the past month was computer failure which was finally warrantied bye the company that did the repairs a few months back....... I wasn't about to pay for it twice. As that is the only computer I own and having no other way to contact anyone here I was offline for the best part of a month.

I will continue to be a member of the NWC and its Prussian army.

Regards
Walt
