Oh I see all the rabid mouths foaming at that topic title... ![]() They run to defend their beloved Emperor! ![]() So how come it still takes my craft, alert self (though not like I used to be in these forums) to notice something the French should be announcing in the open forums for the whole Club. I noticed the LGA Main page change the day it happened! Never did the Allies hear a peep about it. Now I see the young Lieutenant-Colonel Kling's new pet project: http://www.napoleonsbrigade.com/NWCIVCo ... e%207.html Ah but dig deeper: http://www.napoleonsbrigade.com Very nice job gents! I like it a lot! ![]() See my signature isn't the only one I pay attention to.... ![]() ![]() ![]() Actually I generally look at everyone's to see if they've changed positions et al. ![]() ![]() So my young Premierlieutenant Gary Whalen is right in a way and I ask, why doesn't the French announce promotions, medals, website changes, new recruits and all that in the open forums?!? I mean it doesn't have to come from Chuck, but good God man, you've got almost 150+ men in your army, surely there is someone who can write! ![]() Cripe if I can do all of my crap I do by myself, surely you've got a better plan than I do.... ![]() ![]() (See I am still with it!) Good job Al! |

It's announced in the French Forum and when we receive the monthly report from our army commander recapitulating the promotions and news of the army. ![]() |

David, I think Scott's question is why the French awards, promotions, welcome to new reruits, etc. are not mentioned in the Rhine Tavern where everyone can see them. I, for one, have a great many friends in LGA, yourself included, and would like to be able to congratulate them on their promotions and awards. I also enjoy welcoming the newest French officers to the club (and certainly partaking in the free drinks at their expense!). ![]() ![]() ![]() John Corbin is the only senior French officer that I have ever seen introduce new, French officers in the Rhine Tavern (i.e. a public, as opposed to army specific, forum). More recently, Todd Schmidgall and Al Kling are proactive in this regard, as well a Cliff to some degree. Regarding medals, in my 2 1/2 years in this club, I have only seen French medals publically awarded once. Once! And again, that was John Corbin taking the initiative to do so as a parting gesture when he was leaving the club. In my opinion, he was trying to send a message. As the President of this club, it is my duty to look at the overall picture, not only the direct concerns of my chosen army to the detriment of all else. The real question, as I see it, is whether we are a Club of Napoleonic Wargamers bound together by a common interest, or a Club of Individual, Isolationist Armies who jealous guard everything we do from our fictitious 'enemies'. I know my answer to that question. The dilemma lies in what this club truly should be. What it truly can be. When you finally are promoted to a Marechal of the Empire, David, I would certainly like to be there to shake your hand and buy you a drink. ![]() ![]() ![]() I should not have to search your signature to discover the promotion on my own. Your commanding officer should be proud enough to announce it to the world! That is what builds morale; leaders that are active and care; leaders that take the time to publically honor the accomplishments of their men. I would dare say that you know every, single time a Hanoverian officer under my command has been promoted, won a medal, and/or defeated one of your French bretheren on the field of battle. Why hide the light of La Grande Armee under a basket for only the French officers to see? Are we Coalition officers truly your enemies that need be denied a place at the table? |

I for one would prefer a greater public profile for LGA as it would add to the character of our club. I know Marechal Corbin posted about improving the French armies profile in Pierre's regularly and made a number of efforts himself. I want to comment that I feel many French officers respect the current French leadership and its efforts as do I. We receive consistent communications and information about our glorious forces. As a result some times we French we are offended at such affronts as General Ludwigs post. Indeed after all we are French and that is what you should expect. Offense is our national pasttime when it comes to the English and others. I will also add the slightest mention of something Prussian from us and the offense is equally taken. Perhaps even greater the measure. Sometimes I wonder if serious pills are standard rations in the Prussian army. However on balance barring the new compliment of passionate French officers I do feel somewhat alone at times in this tavern. Marechal Bardon or General Guegan drinks with me but often I must drink with such uncouth company as Sir Muddy or the Brigand Jones or even have to endure buying Vodka for the Russians. As much as I respect them for their talents their taste in libation is somewhat harsh. ![]() These things said I am very grateful the Tiralluers et Dragons make a regular appearance and they have added much honour to the Tondu's cause for liberty and justice for Europe. I salute the Emperor! Salute! |

Indeed vodka is most often bought by Russian officers in the Tavern. But this is not because of any kind of addiction to this noble drink. It's only because our glorious French opponents have almost perfect taste for wine and other beverages. And their numerous captured magasines provide us with almost infinite supply of everything but vodka. This may partially explain Cliffton's complains about lack of Russian opponents. It does not come from lack of bravery or zeal. Simply rum is not that popular in our lands. BTW it gives a hint on how to get more opponents. Not via groaning or insults, but through careful promotion, explanation and regular FREE degustations. I must say that your phisical and mental health is very important for all of us. So, please, do not rape yourself! Any time you would like to share a bottle of Château Mouton-Rothschild, Château Margaux or Château Haut-Brion, do know, we will gladly join you. Right now, Helga, please bring us a bottle of Schturm from Wachau valley and let us discuss the battle of Durenstein, wich happened exactly in these vineyards. Seriously, more transparency on the side of LGA is much welcomed. For example there was an idea to count eligibility for St.George order not via vanqueshed opponent's rank, but via the orders he has obtained. Legion d'Honneur in particular. But this was impossible due to intransparency of the LGA awards system. At least I didn't manage to find it explicitly posted anywhere on the Army site. There were variants on corps sites that somewhat differed in detail. |

You're gonna have to stick to this club for at least 12 more years... ![]() And there is no way I will announce it in the main forum, unless the Hanoverian, Russians and Prussians disband or I would have to sell my baton to pay for the tab. ![]() ![]() But more seriously, we are currently working on revamping the medals system since the beginning of the summer. So stay tunned we will have soon announcements and show our nice medals! ![]() |

Mark did hit exactly what I was getting at. That it should be on the public side too. I have friends in the French camp as well that I would like to congratulate on medals, promotions et al. Just need a quick copy & paste to this side for the news too. Shouldn't we all share in celebrating the honors and glory of each other?!? ![]() Quote: I will also add the slightest mention of something Prussian from us and the offense is equally taken. It depends on what it is....we tend to be a kidding bunch and can go along with the jokes et al. ![]() I too respect what the French Command has done for the French Army & Club, I just wish they would take another step forward with this, that's all. ![]() |

Colin! Would like to with all my heart! But unfortunately all of them were used in celebrations and washing up of the fancy sword. It was prime, prime! Such a dark noble color, its aromat, its deep taste that I do not dare call dry. Prime! Prime! I shall try to persuade Jeka to take part in SON 2012. Hope he will agree and we will have a chance to try such a wine one more time ![]() |

Colin, say it isn't so. The Russians have made off with a portion of your private reserve of margaux?! Then we shall have to invade Russia and retrieve it. However, I think, and mind you, I'm just throwing out ideas, perhaps we should campaign in the spring as i hear Russian winters can be hazardous to one's armee. Cheers! |

Yes Marechal Bardon in the Moe4 final Jeka's French acting in a very cossack like way raided my baggage steeling some of my best wine. I was, due to my defeat, unable to retrieve it. I did however retrieve my great rivals MOE sword in our next encounter. Hence my offer for a trade. I must also agree Russia is a tad cold for my horse and my uniform may become dirty on their infernal dirt roads so we shall wait until an opportune time. |

Even I would agree that General Knox would not want to soil his fine uniform by undertaking a long, dusty campaign. No, that simply would not do for the Magnificent Peacock of France! ![]() ![]() ![]() I believe that the same principle would apply to his Venerable Commanding Officer as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Outside, the wind whipped and the rain fell. It was dark and stormy outside even as the old warhorses whinnied and neighed around the fireplace inside. Some were seated in a comfy chair while others took up two so they would have a place to rest their muddy boots. There was a flash of lightning, a sharp crack of thunder and the tavern door flew open slamming against the wall. ![]() ![]() But the door just hung swinging, rain falling outside and all were draw to the loud yawn coming from the stair case.
