For Berthier in Boleslawiec (Buntzlau).

Boleslawiec (Buntzlau), May 26, 1813.

Prince Belluna (Victor) has to go Szprotawa (Sprottau), where it should try to reach today. His job is to keep in mind the direction of Berlin, which is possibly facing when we have new information about the body Bülow. If you have unlocked will Głogów (Glogau) stay connected with it, but its main task is to keep the direction of Berlin, and help marshal Oudinot by holding the rear of Bülow.

Ps. From the Life the fortress Głogów (Glogau)

To May 10, there was peace before said, when in the afternoon of the day was given three salvos in honor of the victory at Lutzen, which are generally among the Prussians battle for victory was announced. Over the next few days noticed a large convoy aimed carriages through Wroclaw (Breslau) - Berlin. With a fleet of 30 vessels arrived in Wroclaw (Breslau) May 17 and stopped half a mile from the fort. When the night began with the May 21 shooting at guns on the Odra (Oder River) bridge, in order to destroy it, the hope among defenders revived again. Indeed, they planted, that the enemy seeks to destroy the crossing to the other side of the river does not enter the French army. Following this line of reasoning in the day doubled the guards before the bridge. Prussian artillery shelled the bridge still, trying to ignite it. So Laplane decided to gather a few ranks 300 soldiers who attacked the batteries from the front, and then destroy them. Meals arrived quickly, however, with which the battle was fought. The crew of the fortress lost 6 wounded, and Prussians 2 officers and 20 soldiers injured and killed. It was the last skirmish garrison before the liberation of the siege. Fortress had to defend himself just a few days.

The prince Cambaseras (Duke of Parma) in Paris.
Bolesławiec (Buntzlau), May 26, 1813

He (Napoleon) received his letter written in Paris on May 20. Reported that his troops are all over Silesia and push the enemy away. The case of Austria. Ends optimistic that things are going well.

Ps. Imperial messengers rode from Paris to Boleslawiec six days, that is 1100-1200km. That is about 200 km a day!

Yes, thank you much Czarek, this is very cool stuff.

One of my great interests in Napoleonic warfare, is the communication systems that were used by Napoleon (and other powers) in managing their campaigns.

The semaphore stations, the Imperial messenger relay system that as you point out, traveled incredible distances across the breadth of Europa.

I'm also very interested in the French military topographical section, that helped to plan everything from whole campaigns to daily operations.

Looking forward to more of your posts, sir!
